I do not let my children play in their school clothes or church clothes. As soon as they arrive home, they know to change their clothes. Also, I always check the clearnance racks first.

best wardrobe tip – buy summer clothes in winter, winter clothes in summer.
also my husband has a large family of 6 brothers and 5 sisters so when any of our kids no longer fit clothes we pass them down throughout the family.

I definitely use layers. Here in South Carolina it can be chilly in the morning and hot by the afternoon. Short sleeves with a long sleeve shirt, sweater, or jacket work for me.

since we live in California, I get to extend the summer clothes a few more months. Then I buy everything on sale. I never pay full price for clothes.

I just put a thermal or long sleeve shirt under my son’s short sleeve t’s to take them into fall. Easy.

Definitely layering. For basics, we go to Target usually, and then mix in slightly more expensive fashion items – saving some money on the stuff like tanks and tees helps leave the room open for “must haves”

I layer a favorite short sleeve shirt over a more fitted long sleeve shirt for fall and winter wear.

Since the kids go back to school when it’s still warm out, I don’t do “back-to-school” shopping. If there is somethign they need, tehy get it, but otherwise, they will start the school year wearing shorts, etc.

Being in Alabama, our summer clothes go pretty far into the Fall months. We just add a long sleeve shirt if the morning is cool, it will surely be off by 11am.

My girls wear uniforms but for regular clothes, I love to refashion things for them. I changed one of my 6 year old’s favorite long sleeve shirt into a summer dress but taking the sleeves off and adding a coordinating fabric on the bottom to make it a dress. Just cost me time and she was so tickled because she could wear it for another season.

This isn’t really a tip, so much as how I dress my kids inexpensively.

My husband and I gave our parents their first grandkids. I’ve had to ask them to stop buying things for my kids or buy them one size too big!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
