Shopping for fall at the end of winter time saves lots of money.

My son wears uniforms and I love it. We still buy him cool clothes for Fridays though.

I shop clearance sales all year and buy a size bigger for the next season. It doesn’t get all that cold here, so short sleave shirts can be worn most of the year or layered.

Living in Texas, we can wear shorts and t-shirts most of the year. That helps a lot. Otherwise, it’s all about stocking up when things are on sale and, as the kids get older, letting them know what the budget is and letting them help with the decisions about what to buy.

I usually buy the clearance stuff at the end of the season and also use online coupons.

I shop for my twin girls and my son almost entirely from clearance racks all year long, buying bigger sizes for the next season. I’ll buy some basics that are 2 or 3 sizes too big if the deal is good enough. They will grow into it eventually!!

I buy cloths whenever I find it on clearance, mostly at Target. I wait until its 75% off and get really nice cloths, really cheap. Also, I tend to buy the shorts or / and jeans that the waist can be adjusted.

When my boys’ jeans get too short or the knees are worn through, I have my mother cut them off and re-hem them into nice jean shorts. She is handy with sewing and this saves us from ever having to buy shorts.

Right about now when the summer clothes go on sale, I try and think ahead and buy a bigger size for my oldest son. I don’t go all out and purchase everything, but I get a few things that I know we’ll use.

I also buy clothes on clearance whenever possible. I also try to buy one/two sizes up. I have a pair of lightweight pants for my daughter bought last season size 2T when she was in 6-9 months. They rolled up fine for wearing around the house and now they fit her perfectly. I also buy lots of short sleeve t-shirts to pair up with sweatshirts. For some reason we wear sweatshirts year round but often need the layers for changing temps. This way I’m not changing her from a long sleeve t-shirt to a short sleeve t-shirt i’m just removing a more durable longer lasting hoodie.

Clearance racks in the next size or two up help you fill out basics for the months to come.

I shop the clearance racks at the end of every season. I also pair summer dresses with tights when it starts to cool off. If the dress doesn’t have sleeves, I layer a shirt underneath.

Buy a couple sizes when there is a good deal on a clothing item that you’ll use later too, like jeans or shoes.

I buy clothes that are in bigger sizes so my son can wear them longer.

I buy kids shoes on clearance- any size that’s bigger than my kids currently wear and is $5 or less. I’ve got my daughter’s dress shoes for the next 2 years all for $9! Then when their feet grow I just shop in their closet. If they don’t work for some reason – wrong size/season, not wide enough – I just give them away or sell them online.

My daughter is only a toddler so we don’t have to do back to school shopping just yet but the best way I’ve found to stretch a buck on her clothing is by shopping at places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls!

You can make them last??? My boys go through clothes like no ones business. I make pants in to shorts when I can to pass onto the younger ones but otherwise I have no wise tips.
