I like buying the shirt sets that allow my little boy to wear the short sleeve on top of the long sleeve or individually.

My tip is….long sleeved shirts that are loose enough to be rolled up or pushed up when it is warmer. Also, I’ve found that my 14 year old son prefers to wear shorts well into November (we’re in PA), so I didn’t buy any jeans for him last year until they were on clearance or really cheap sale after school had already started.

My daughter wears her camis all year ’round – alone or layered with other camis in the summer and under long-sleeved shirts and sweaters in the winter. For boys, we buy a long-sleeved waffle weave shirt to put under all his short-sleeved polos and T-shirts.

Luckily my son is not a picky dresser (except when it comes to shoes), so that helps. To stretch his wardrobe, I buy him neutral color bottoms that all his shirts match. I buy from sale racks, consignment stores, goodwill & discount stores like TJMaxx.

I love consignment shops! Great way to back to school shop without breaking the bank.

To stretch my son’s wardrobe budget, I keep an eye out year round for great clothing deals. I also make sure that when he’s out playing, he’s wearing play clothes, not school clothes.

When ever I go shopping I always check the clearance isles first. Usually I will buy at the end of the season when they are trying to get rid of their stock saving those clothes for next year.

We wear the same bottoms from spring/summer and buy a few new tees at the end of summer when they are on clearance. After it gets cooler, we layer on a hoodie and by the time it gets cold enough to wear pants, they’re on clearance from back-to-school. The only thing we always get new at the beginning of the school year – sneakers.

I definitely shop the clearance racks in order to stretch my dollar. I’ll buy basics like tank tops or jeans for next year even if the deal is really good!

Shop Goodwill and yard sales throughout the year. All kids clothes are $2.49 a piece at our local Goodwill.

I’m a soon-to-be mom, but I’ve already started shopping sales for the little one – buying a size ahead with plans to give away the clothes if they don’t fit at that time/season. :)

    Thanks!

My teenage boys know we don’t buy anything that’s not on sale. Also, they don’t want all the big name brand clothing.

I do what most of us are doing, looking for clothes from the clearance rack, shop 2nd hand stores, buy one size bigger, and buy neutral color clothings so that mix and matching is much easier.

Having kids close in age/size helps! (Or having family with kids a bit older) Just pass the clothes around! And hand-me-downs are the best!

I buy clearance and my youngest wears hand me downs. My boys have gotten a lot of clothes from Old Navy this summer with the good coupons.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
