Well, my kids are all grown & our nest is empty, but I always saved money on their clothes by shopping the sales & clearance racks, and going to thrift and re-sale/consignment shops, and watching the store ads in the newspaper.

i love yard sales, but i also find some amazing deals on clearance – so what if they are a few sizes too big, they will fit in a few years!

I am big into the layered look! We can get a lot more use out of those t-shirts by just putting a long sleeve tee under it!

I always buy a few plain long sleeved shirts for my boys to wear under their short sleeved shirts for the fall weather so they get plenty of wear out of their short sleeved shirts. I also check out the clearance rack anytime I go shopping and find great deals on end of season clothes that I can put up for the next year.

I put leggings under skirts for the beginning of fall weather and tees under tanks for a new look so that I don’t have to buy new stuff at the start of school. And since I save most of my 3 girls clothes for hand-me-downs, digging up the old stuff is like getting something new!

Stretching that shopping dollar is what we’re all about. Start with basic items that can be mixed and matched. Solid camis, tanks, hoodies and jackets make great basic items for girls. Once the basics have been purchased, a fun top or skirt creates that new and unique outfit. Don’t forget that accessories can also create a whole new look. Going from punk to formal is nothing but a hat, scarf, or necklace away.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
