New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!
For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.
Don’t worry if you’ve already got plans during these events – you also have the opportunity to win one of four Crayola Creativity Packs right here on Deal Seeking Mom!

My favorite memory of Crayola crayons is coloring endlessly during the endless summers as a child.

I loved to color on anything & everything as a child. Books, paper, walls, sidewalk, my journal. Now I am trying to incourage my 4 hildren, ages 17, 11, 7, 7, yo be as creative & as intellectual as they want to be, as they can be. These sets would be perfect for 4 kids, SAHM to do. Together & Apart.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always loved coloring, but I’ve always been very particular about what kinds of crayons, markers, etc. I used. They always had to be Crayola. None of the other brands do as good of a job of coloring.

My favorite moment of using Crayola is when I went to kindergarden to register. my aunt took me and while she was registering me I sat at a table and colored with several other children. One little boy was looking at me and I told him to stop copying off of me. That was not bad … the bad was I punced him so hard he fell backwards out of the chair. After he got up and the teacher made me say I was sorry and told him he had to be my boyfriend or I would do it again! LOL! We were best friends all through grade school!

I remember melting them in an attempt to make candles. I used one of my mom’s good pans, on the stove, and she was not happy!

Markers were rarely used at my house (I think because my mom ran a daycare and she really didn’t want the 3 & under crowd getting their hands on them – this was before washables!) so I remember when the markers did get pulled out, it was really special. We must have created a ton of artwork on those days!

My Memory is getting a new box of crayons, was like getting a candy. I remember the pride i took in my crayons. I had them all nice and pretty once one lost its point id have to sharpen it so i could be like the rest. How funny is it that my daughter is the same way. Nobody messes with her crayons cause we all know how much she takes care of them.

Whenever I buy a new box of Crayola crayons, I am taken back to the feeling I got at the beginning of the school year when everything was fresh and new. The smell of Crayola crayons makes me think of new beginnings, fresh starts, and possibilities.

I remember being so happy with a new box of Crayola crayons expecially the 64 count.
Sarah
i loved being the first to use the new crayons

My mom found a Crayola drawing kit that had a board that had a straight edge that hooked into a groove around the edge, some triangles and some other templates. I think it was originally meant to be used to draw cars. I used it for just about everything else. It made a great drawing board, especially when I got older and was doing engineering type drawings in high school. A great buy for like $2.

Crayola crayons have the best smell! I remember when i got a new box, i couldn’t wait to open it up just to get a good smell of them. When I color with my niece now, that smell still takes me back to “the good ol days”
Janeen
I loved shaving flakes off the crayons and melting them between sheets of wax paper with my mom’s iron. Instant modern art!
Emily
I remember when the 96 pack of Crayolas came out. I was so excited that I took out each of the colors just to read the funny names!
Tassie
