New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!
For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.

I just loved to color. I still do with my kids. I even have a crayon remaker that I picked up on clearance for 2.50 at K-Mart. The kids love making new crayons with it. Crayola is a huge product in our house. I gotta try the tadoodles, has anyone else?
Ashley
we still have contests to see who can color the best..lol

My mom and I uesd to shave a bunch of crayons and make pictures between two pieces of wax paper. Then she would Iron them to make the wax melt. I loved doing that with her.

I loved when my mom helped us shred our old crayons and we melted them in the oven between two sheets of wax paper, then peeled it back to reveal own homemade “stained glass” and then hung them in the window!! I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to do it, too!

I LOVE Crayola crayons! I just bought myself a pack and I’m 30! AND I have kept them out of the reach of my kids (who each have their own packs) so that they stay nice for ME to color! :o)

And now to enter with just a plain ol’ comment…
Crayola crayons were also my favorite school supply–I loved, loved the feeling of having a box of perfect crayons. As a preschool teacher, I’ve been through lots of crayons over the years…I have to be honest and say that I still always, always keep a 24-box of Crayolas just for me to use, and when they start to get dull, I melt them down and use them for projects (or pass them on to kids who won’t care if they’re not perfect!). I know, it’s a little sad…but I love, love the Crayola!!!

I loved the rainbow of colors and the crayon sharpener on the box. What happened to the sharpener they don’t have that any more?

LOVE markers and crayons!!! I loved coloring books and outlining each element before filling it in. I also loved making cards using my “special” set of Crayola markers that weren’t just the basic colors. They were deeper colors like forest green and burgundy.
I (and my kids) would love to win!

My favorite memory is when we did a project where we colored ever inch of a white paper, then painted it black, and then scratched it off to reveal the beautiful crayola colors underneath.
Amy

Crayola has to be one of the best companies to work for. They have so many cool things. I loved to draw and paint pictures, hang them up all over my house and pretend that it was an art show. And just so you know….I am a BAD artist!!! but who cares when you are having so much FUN!!

I remember the smell of opening a new box of Crayola crayons on the first day of school. I still go back to that place today when I open a new box for one of my 4 children. I always puts a smile on my face!

My favorite memory of Crayola as a kid was my parents FINALLY getting the 64-crayon box (with built-in sharpener!) for me in 2nd grade after months of coveting the one my table partner always flaunted. And the best part was, since mine was newer, it was automatically better. Turnabout is fair play!

I am a little embarrassed about my memory, but it is what sticks out…so here it is. When I was only in probably 1st or 2nd grade I REALLY wanted a BIG box of crayons, not just the little one. I told my mom we had to have it for school, even though she had to have known I was lying. She did get it for me, but I’ve always felt guilty about that and confessed as an adult.
