New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!

I remember using my Crayola crayons as a kid and making all kinds of pictures for my mom. My son loves doing the same thing!

This is awesome!! I love crayola products. My most vivid memories of using this product was when my sisters and i would charpened(shaved) the crayons, mix the colors and then spread them over a drawing lined up with glue so the crayon shavings would stick. We thought it was the greatest thing ever, and the memories…priceless.

Two memories, when making homemade candles using those waxed paper coca cola cups we would melt crayons into the wax for coloring. We had some festive candles! Second memory, Mom would save all the broken crayons and when we had a bunch we would bake them (just till melted) in an old cupcake pans. When they cooled we had our own mix of multi colored crayons. Some were round some were heart shaped. That was such a treat!

My favorite memory is coloring with my mom. It was way better than coloring by myself! Now I love to color with my kids….I wonder if they get that same cozy feeling when I color with them? I hope so!

My favorite crayola memory as a kid was coloring with my mother. She liked crayola crayons the best because they colored the smoothest and didn’t make a mess. I didn’t understand when I was little, but once I became a teacher and had children of my own, crayola is all I have ever used. With my own children, we break them up and put them in mini muffin tins and melt them to make new multicolored crayons. So fun! Oh and one other thing we loved to do with our crayons. We would color an entire piece of paper with every bright color in the box as dark as possible. Then we would completely cover over the whole page of colors with black as dark as we could so that none of the color showed through. Then we would use a pencil or a scissors or something pointy to scratch out designs. My mom loved this because it kept us busy for a long time.

My favorite crayola project was to take a piece of paper and make as colorful of a picture as I could the whole page would be covered and then take a black crayon and cover the entire colored part of the picture then i would take a sharp pencil or end of a paper clip and make a design on the top, it was great.

I used to love using Crayola crayons at the kitchen table while my Mom did dishes, cleaned, ironed, etc. I remember thinking that the crayon box had soooo many great colors in it and that the crayon sharpener in the box was just fabulous..one of the best ideas in the world! And I believe that in those early years, Crayola actually helped me to read…since I had to read the crayon wrapper to see which color was named what…

when I would get a new box of crayola crayons I would refuse to share hem with my 9 other siblings because new crayons did not surface often and with bothers did not look nice for long. I still love how perfect a new box of crayons looks when you first open it. And the smell brings back all the wonderful memories.

My favorite childhood Memory was when my brother was sick w/ pneumonia and he was home in bed! it was winter break from school and my mom loaded us up w/ crayola supplies and crayons and other crayola things so that we’d have something to do. I also remember the 64 count box she bought w/ the sharpener on the back. The smell those new crayons would bring. And how i’d reorganize the colors. Gosh what it’s like to be a kid again! My kids are now spoiled w/ crayola crayons and other crayola supplies that weren’t available when I was a child. Crayola for our family is the only way to go!

i loved to color but i also loved to put the all the same colors together in my 64 count crayola crayon box.

We didn’t have much money when we were little, but my mom would buy us a new box of Crayola crayons and a coloring book every once in awhile if we were good when we went away. I loved to color and still do, it inspired my other creative talents like painting and cross stitch. I’ve passed that on to my kids now.

My favorite memory is making cards with Crayola crayons. Mom would help me shave pieces of old crayons so I could place them on wax paper in a design. Then she would cover it with a cloth and iron. Only the Crayola crayons melt all the way through and leave bright color designs. I would cut and glue the wax paper design on the front of a construction paper folded card. They I would draw a picture on the inside with my new sharp Crayola Crayons and write a message and send it.
