Complementing the selection of quality pet food and supplies in Kroger stores, Kroger Personal Finance (KPF) brings together a wide array of quality financial products and services from preferred providers for Kroger customers and their furry family members, including a new “accident only” pet insurance policy for just $9.95/month per pet.
To most pet owners, pets are family too! When pets get sick or injured, most of us are willing to spend almost whatever it takes to get them back on all four feet, but the price of veterinary care does not come cheap. As a matter of fact, according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA) vet bills last year in the U.S. topped $11 billion. For this reason, pet insurance policies are on the rise.
Kroger Pet Insurance coverage starts at just $9.95 for an accident-only plan and includes plans with up to $12,000 worth of annual coverage per pet. Sign up in Kroger’s stores or online!

I buy my dog food at Kroger, actually, because it’s cheapest. They have an Old Yeller 50lb bag there, which, as it varies in price from $11.99 to I think $13.99, comes in at $0.24-$0.28 per pound. Not even Sam’s or Costco is cheaper.

I purchase a large quantity of my dogs regular (more pricey) food to get a better deal. Then, I mix in cheaper food that I’ve purchased with coupons & sales to stretch it out.

We buy our 2 black labs toys at the flea market, there is a vendor that sells damaged packaged toys, the toys are fine but usually no package. I’ve gotten the expensive everlasting dog toys for $3 (regually $20). And we ALWAYS cut coupons and get free samples!!! Thanks DSM!

I can’t really save money on dog food because we have to buy it at the vet since they have allergies and other issues. We do try to save money on treats by buying the 20# box of iams dog treats since these are on their approved list. Our vet does give us a small discount since we are there every three weeks but overall we spend around $3000.00 a year on care for our bassets. So I have to find other ways to save$$. We do save by doing all the nail clipping, grooming, and ear cleaning at home ourselves.

We grind leftover deer meat (after my husband cleans the deer for us) and us it as dog food with dry food. Not only does it save us money, but it’s a great treat for the dogs and venison is a healthy meal for them – great if your dog has skin issues or allergies!

We use coupons (of course!) and stock up on canned cat food and treats during sales. It’s difficult to stock up on dry cat food because it goes stale quickly, but we save good coupons to help drop the costs. Free treat samples are great, too!
