The most meaningful gift I’ve ever given was a love letter to my husband for valentine’s day. He’s not much on gifts and this was a cheap present. I took a lot of time and I think he really appreciated the effort.

I am giving a very meaningful gift this year. I spend hours going through 6 years of my son’s photos, and through all the various photo website and free prints I earned, printed out approx 200 pictures of my son and various family…I purchased a scrapbook I got for 50% off at Michaels, our local craft store and my son is helping decorate the scrapbook and we will put all the photos in.

When I was in the 3rd grade my mom was hospitalized a day before mothers day. She was really sick.At school I made her a necklace made with beads made of wall paper (that I worked really hard to make) and the teacher bought us all flowers in a pot to give our moms.

On mothers day I left the flowers outside of my house and it started raining really bad and hailing a litttle. I ran ran outside to get my flowers and got hit with a piece of hail on my shoulder.

I took my gifts to the hospital and my mom loved them. She wore my necklace and to this day those flowers still bloom in the garden.
Her being in the hospital so sick made me realize how much I loved her so those gifts were the most meaningful gifts I have given.

The most meaningful gift I gave was a scrapbook to my favorite aunt and uncle.
They tried to conceive for years, and finally conceived two beautiful twin girls.
I was only 16 at the time but knew how important the girls were to them. My aunt had mentioned she was sad how quickly they were growing up and due to work felt like she was missing out on the little moments. Every time I went with my mother to help care for the twins I would take a few pictures. At Christmas I made a scrapbook full of the pictures of the previous 6 months. Many years have gone by, but I still remember the happiness on their faces as they flipped through all the pages. :)

The most meaningful gift I ever game someone…was to my dad…his mom…my grandmother passed away from Alsheimer’s Disease. I purchased a special commenorative Alsheimer’s photo album from Creative Memories (they donate a portion of the proceeds to Alheimer’s research) and we filled it with photos of my grandma and I wrote a special dedication on the inside cover.

The most meaningful gift I ever gave was a guardian angel pin to my mother when she was very ill. She is much better now, but still keeps the pin close to her.

Every year for christmas, I make a card for my best friend with as many of our favorite moments and quotes that I can remember. The card takes at least 3 hours to complete.

My husband says that the best gift I ever gave him was when I told him I’d try snowboarding with him. He was (and is) a total snowboarding addict, and I was terrified to try. But, he really wanted me to, so I did. Now (3 years later) I can get down the easy hills without crashing (I really am a klutz lol) and he is happy as a clam that I’m on the hill with him :)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
