I look for durability. My two year old is so hard on her shoes. They never last long.

I look for style...thus far my son has worn only designer shoes or ones his aunt buys him :)
I look for fit. My kids have really wide feet. If they won't wear the shoes becuase they are uncomfortable, it's a waste of $$.
