National Fresh Breath Day Giveaway #SonicareChallenge

by Tara Kuczykowski on August 6, 2010 · 183 comments

Today is National Fresh Breath Day, a day to discuss the importance of oral hygiene, and the importance of having minty fresh breath. Coincidentally, it also happens to be my 6-year-old daughter's birthday -- just look at those beautiful, pearly whites thanks to her new Sonicare for Kids toothbrush! (Happy Birthday, Baby!!!)

Seriously, this was a child that I battled with regularly over brushing her teeth, and she's now thrilled to brush her teeth every morning, noon, and night. These brushes are on the pricey side, but the savings we're sure to see on dental bills makes them a much more reasonable proposition. Three cheers for clean teeth without any arguments!

In celebration of National Fresh Breath Day, Sonicare would like to give one lucky Deal Seeking Mom two Sonicare brush head refills for the Sonicare toothbrush of your choice!

To enter, just tell me what teeth brushing is like in your household. Are you a three-times-a-day brusher? Is it a struggle to get your kids to brush their teeth regularly?

This giveaway ends at 11:59 a.m. ET on Monday, August 9th and is open to all U.S. residents 18 years or older. I’ll use Comment Contest to select the winning comment. Winner will be notified by email and listed on my Giveaway Winners page. Winners must respond within 24 hours of notification to claim their prize. Good luck!

Adults use sonicare, children use character brushes, but it is a struggle. I might have to give the children sonicares a try. We love ours. I feel like I went to the dentist each time I brush.

Sadly, it's often a struggle! We are working on it!

It's a struggle with my boys, but my daughter who is the oldest does it with no problems.

I always brush twice a day and I try to floss when I remember/have time. Everyone else in my house flosses regularly.

Teeth brushing has always been a struggle in our house :(

12 Lyndsey August 7, 2010 at 1:52 pm

It is getting more difficult for my 3 yr. old. He is always too busy, always has something else to do instead. Eventually we get him to brush, but it is quite a chore!

13 Terri August 7, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Our 6 year old daughter brushes twice a day, but our 12 year old son brushes probably once a week.

14 Heather August 7, 2010 at 2:45 pm

I'm a two-times-a-day brusher

15 Tracy August 7, 2010 at 8:35 pm

We just bought new Sonicare brushes for the adults and LOVE them! Kids still use the character brushes and they love brushing. I only push for two times a day because they are both under 5.

We get the kids to brush twice a day but are still having problems with cavities. We should try the sonicare brushes.

My son doesn't like brushing his teeth. I made a chart for a two week period. If he brushes his teeth without complaining for two weeks, we go to the toy store and pick out a toy. This is working. I hope it continues to work.

i think a powertoothbrush would help alot with my almost 4 year old. It might make brushing more fun :)

It is pretty much a struggle everyday to get my 3 year old to brush his teeth. We are thinking of switching to Sonicare for the whole family and my 3 year old is very interested in the idea.

I have 3 year old twins and both of them fight us to brush their teeth but we get there. Love to try this one!

21 Vicki Wurgler August 8, 2010 at 9:59 am

the kids like to brush their teeth so there isn't much of a problem-they get to pick the brush and toothpaste they like

22 Carrie August 8, 2010 at 12:19 pm

My toddler loves to brush - he'd seriously brush 10 times a day if I let him. My teens on the other hand wouldn't notice if I threw their toothbrushes away...

Happy Birthday to your daughter and my son as well - he's two today :0)

23 Sarah August 8, 2010 at 2:46 pm

It is so difficult to get the teeth brushed that it has become number one on the chore list. I hope for one good brushing each day

24 jamie k August 8, 2010 at 5:15 pm

We brush 2x/day and it is such a hassle!

27 WendyW August 8, 2010 at 8:59 pm

It's been a struggle with my daughter, so we recently got her her own Sonicare head for our base. No more nagging to brush!

28 Kerry August 8, 2010 at 9:28 pm

I brush morning and night. I like to brush with my Sonicare. But more kids are more of a struggle to get to brush!

My kids would brush their teeth all day if I let them. We just purchased them toothbrushes similar to Sonicare and it has made it worse. I guess there are worse things they could be doing:)

30 Robin August 9, 2010 at 12:34 am

My daughter is just turning 1 so we are just starting to build good habits with teeth brushing. So far so good!

31 Melissa August 9, 2010 at 9:13 am

I personally brush 2-3 times a day...but have you ever tried to hold down a 70 lb. English Bulldog to try and brush his? Whew - can you say workout!

THANKS for the opporutnity to win!

32 Jennifer Nick August 9, 2010 at 9:32 am

We're twice a day brushers, but where we struggle is forcing ourselves to floss. But my dentist said that an electric toothbrush helps with that! Thanks!

33 Andrea Watts August 9, 2010 at 10:36 am

It used to be a struggle and now that they are older, they are better at it.
