FREE Johnson’s Buddies Soaps Are Back

by Tara Kuczykowski on June 4, 2009 · 52 comments

Free Johnson's Buddies SoapsI've professed my love of Johnson's Buddies Soaps in the past. They smell great, are easy for the kiddos to hang onto, and last a long time – all attributes that make them tops in my book.

So I was super excited when Kaley from Cha-Ching On A Shoetring emailed to tell me there's a new coupon out that will score FREE Johnson's Buddies Soaps!

Buddies Soaps are priced at just $0.99 at most stores, including Walmart and Target, so "buy" 3 for FREE with this $3/3 coupon:

$3/3 Any Johnson's Products (IE) or (Firefox)

Make sure to hit the back button on your browser to print two!

Hope they don't question it, since the Q says "excluding 4 oz" and the Johnson Buddies bars are less than that (at 2.45 oz)... and nothing from the "buddies" line is pictured.

2 Cassandra June 4, 2009 at 11:37 pm

Yeah I was wondering about that myself. I really like to stay withing the coupons guidelines.

3 Tara Kuczykowski June 4, 2009 at 11:59 pm

Good question, but I think we're okay because it's only excluding the 4-oz. size. It doesn't state 4-0z. or less.

4 Cassandra Lonestar June 5, 2009 at 12:07 am

Gotta love that! If it doesn't say it! It doesn't apply! :) Good Point!

5 Laura June 5, 2009 at 12:56 am

There was a coupon in one of the newspaper inserts awhile back for $1/1 any Johnson's baby product that expires 6/10/09. It also says "excludes trial sizes". Would this coupon also work?

6 Megan June 5, 2009 at 1:53 am

This link is only allowing me to print ONE coupon. Is that happening to anyone else???

7 Lolo June 5, 2009 at 3:09 am

yes it only let me print one as well. =(

8 Laura June 5, 2009 at 3:22 am

It only let me print one as well; however, the coupon I mentioned above worked for the soap. The clipped coupon I had was going to expire on the 10th, so yay!

I'm having trouble printing the Crystal Light coupons. I had tried to print them earlier but my internet was acting shoddy and my queue stopped halfway through. Now thinks I've printed off my limit of Crystal Light and I can't print any more! UGH! Does anyone know of another link for the Crystal Light coupon? I know some coupon sites offer the same coupons, I just can't think of another coupon site that offers coupons. Thanks!

9 Elise June 5, 2009 at 5:06 am

only 1 for me too!! =-( oh well i was looking for another one of these to get 3 packs of cheap baby q-tips (i use them for applying desitin i hate getting that stuff all over my fingers!) at walmart the baby q tips are 1.39 so that means 1.17 for 3 packs!! (we have wayyy too many soap buddies already LOL)

10 Mandi June 5, 2009 at 5:29 am

Oh, I'm so glad this is back – we're almost out of bars!

11 momnkav June 5, 2009 at 6:09 am

thank you! i got 1 coupon also, it says 3.00$ off any 3 johnson products. it works for me.

12 momnkav June 5, 2009 at 6:45 am you can also get some baby product coupons on this web site,,, but not 3/3... but alot of places double coupons now so you could still save a bit.

13 Jessica June 5, 2009 at 8:00 am

Cool, if anyone tries it out, let us know!

14 Sonya June 5, 2009 at 8:01 am

I am gonna try it and if it doesnt work, then I guess it doesnt work. Just have to pick my cashier right.

15 Tammy June 5, 2009 at 8:02 am

Walmart also carries J&J diaper rash ointment for a little over a dollar and that is what I plan on using this coupon towards since I have soooooo many bars of Buddy soap! Good to stock up on the cream!

16 michelle June 5, 2009 at 8:11 am

The last time these came out I used them to purchase the Buddies soaps without any problems and the last batch had a coupon that didn't have the Buddies picture either :) I still have a HUGE stash left over!

17 Vivian June 5, 2009 at 9:09 am

Thanks for the tips about the diaper ointment and q-tips. How much soap do we really need? I picked up so many last go round. We still have a closet full even after sharing with family and friends and donating . (I really don't want to be known as the "soap lady".)

18 Laurie June 5, 2009 at 9:12 am

Sonya- just out of curiosity, how do you pick your cashier? (Perhaps this is more of a forum thing... ) I tend to pick the younger, happier looking ones. Anyone else have some good tactics (?sp) And yeah, I only could get 1 to print, too! :(

19 Lisa June 5, 2009 at 9:32 am

Glad to hear that I am not the only one that got one to print. I read somewhere else that these could also be used on the J&J first aid kits that are sold at walmart for about 99 cents. I am going to check out the diaper rash cream...I have a neighbor that is having a baby and I am sure she could use some!!!

20 Danielle June 5, 2009 at 10:00 am

I've never had a problem with the $3/3 at Walmart. At Target, I've had problems with ALL of them, even the ones with the Buddies pictured (they are priced at .97 here, so the cashiers often don't realize they can adjust down; of course, some push it through and I get overage!). As for picking cashiers, Target is the only place I'm picky. I look for younger guys (early 20s) first, then younger gals. I stay away from older ladies.

21 Kristen June 5, 2009 at 10:20 am

I could only print the coupon once. I was also curious about the wording, but I will give it a try at Target. Danielle, I do the same thing with the Target cashiers. I once had a cashier, an older woman, put my coupons down, push and spread them all apart, then go through to match up the target Qs with MFR Qs when I already had them all nicely seperated. What could have taken a few minutes, probably took 10 or more.

22 Tara Kuczykowski June 5, 2009 at 10:35 am

Laura, this isn't a trial size, so the newspaper insert coupon should work as well.

Not sure why it's not printing twice – sorry about that!

23 Susan June 5, 2009 at 11:03 am

I went to Target last night and my older lady cashier wouldn't let me use the coupon since it wasn't pictured. Then after all 25 coupons she said that I was robbing them! She was really rude ! I will try Walmart next time.

24 Michelle June 5, 2009 at 11:33 am

I used the $1 Johnson's baby item from the newspaper to buy Buddies Soaps at Target 2 days ago, and IT WORKED.

Thanks for this new coupon!

25 Cassandra Lonestar June 5, 2009 at 12:27 pm

Susan I don't get that! They get reimbursed for Manufacturer coupons so how can you be robbing them? It might be worth a call to costumer service. That is not ok that she said that and I don't handle that kind of stuff very well!! Probably would have started crying on the spot! haha

26 Kristie June 5, 2009 at 4:15 pm

TIP: I don't even have little kids but what I do is cut off the "gripper" stuff so that it is a plain ole bar of soap. I keep a bar at my kitchen sink to use. Have TONS of these. Love free soap!

I've been buying them with the $1/1 Johnson's baby item coupons that have been out since what seems like forever. These coupons come out at least once a month it seems. They typically sell for dirt cheap on ebay in lots of 20 (if anyone wants to stockpile them!)
Not that I would know anything about that. =)

27 Loretta June 5, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Yay! I love these little grippy soaps! (and so do my kids ~ so double yay!)

I was only able to print it once as well :(

It came up that I had already printed my coupons - but I hadn't printed any. Wanted to get the soap for my nephew who just separated from his wife. They have a 2 year old (cute little boy) and his grandparents (my B&SIL) watch him every day. Any ideas as to why they wouldn't print?

30 Stefani June 5, 2009 at 7:02 pm

I printed the coupon. Thanks for sharing.

31 Steph June 5, 2009 at 7:55 pm

I used the $3/3 at Walmart today. Worked just fine. Love free soap! I have another tip--when the soap is gone, cut a small hole in the gripper and collect slivers of soap laying around. Works great for using every last bit of soap!

32 Heather June 5, 2009 at 8:04 pm

I used it and at first the lady wasn't going to take it, but after she read it she said ok! I love free things!

33 momnkav June 5, 2009 at 8:17 pm

i used my coupon tonight and got my 3 bars of soap for free!!! cant beat that deal. thanks

34 Diane June 5, 2009 at 9:22 pm

I used the coupon today at Target. The soap was .97 cents each. The lady at the register questioned it (product & oz size) and I firmly told her. It says any Johnson's product and does not say 4oz or under. She took it!!! Thanks for coupon and my little girl is excited to take a bath tonight, we have never tried it before.

35 JArble June 5, 2009 at 11:01 pm

where the heck are these things ...i looked all over walmart and came up empty handed...checked in the soap, baby, etc... can someone point me in the right direction

36 Angelika June 5, 2009 at 11:13 pm

They didn't let me have it in Walmart, because it's smaller that 4oz. The cashier lady was pretty rude too :-)

37 kate June 5, 2009 at 11:34 pm

I got them at Target with no problem! I love these!

I was wondering about that $1/1 baby item coupon, too. Does this qualify as a baby item? I kind of don't think so. =\

38 Angela June 5, 2009 at 11:51 pm

Does anyone remember what week the $1 off Q for Johnson's product was in?

39 Laura June 5, 2009 at 11:55 pm

Jarble, I found the soaps at my Walmart near the make-up, lotions, and facial cleansers. There's a small section with kid's bubble bath, tub crayons, color fizzers, and these soaps. However, Walmart refused to accept the $3/3 coupon for these, stating it's below the 4-oz size and it's not included in the picture. I asked for a manager and explained that the coupon is for ANY Johnson's product and excludes ONLY the 4-oz size and not these 1-oz bars or even the less-than 4-oz Desitin in the picture, but he still refused to accept it. I'm headed to Target tomorrow.

40 Sarah June 6, 2009 at 1:11 am

I love these soaps! I take them with me when we got camping or vacationing. Typically at home I use liquid soap but don't like to travel with it. And it is a scent that I like as well as the kids so I don't mind using it at all. I haven't had any problems using them at my target or my walmart. I have had a few probelms in general with any coupon printed at home then others don't care.

41 mary June 6, 2009 at 6:50 am

I love the way they smell

42 NursemommyRN June 6, 2009 at 10:12 am

I can never find the Johnson's Buddies at my Wal-Mart, but I've found them at Toys-R-Us and Target. I've never had problems with any of my coupons except for one Rite Aid store. They wouldn't accept any internet printables! My Wal-Mart and Kroger don't even look at the coupons and my Kroger even lets you use expired ones. Once I even used a coupon that I didn't have an item for. I had picked it up and then put it back and forgotten to take the coupon out of my stack that I give the cashier, so I learned that by accident! Of course, I don't do this though!! I try my best to follow the rules on the coupon to make things fair for everyone and to not cheat the store out of anything.

43 stephanie June 6, 2009 at 7:05 pm

Babies-r-us accepts the coupon on the soaps and they re only .99 there!!! I just got them today!

44 ivy June 6, 2009 at 10:47 pm

Just got home from Target they did not let me use the 3/3 Johnson’s coupon or the cryystal light one =( i left upset but did not want to due a big thing out of it

45 Linda June 7, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!! Just got home from Target and got my 3 free soaps! and they took the crystal light coupons today, when they told me no yesterday. guess it just depends on the cashier. Thanks again!

46 ALLISON June 8, 2009 at 7:57 am

I picked up my 3 j&j buddies soaps @walmart, priced listed $.94, I paid a total of $.06 for remaining tax.. the cashier smiled at me & I said, "Great deal, right?" Thanks,!

47 Ducky June 10, 2009 at 1:27 am

I got it to work at Target. The soaps were $1.07 each though. I got an older male cashier and it beeped when he scanned the coupon and said you didn't buy this. I told him I did and he looked at the soap and was like I guess you did and punched it in.

Thanks for the coupon!

48 marilyn June 10, 2009 at 2:02 pm

i am trying to get the free soaps from Johnson and Johnson and it says no coupons available to download...whats with that?

49 Tara Kuczykowski June 10, 2009 at 2:11 pm

Marilyn, this coupon was first posted on 6/4. Unfortunately, good coupons often reach their print limit very quickly. The good news is that J&J frequently releases coupons that are good on the Buddies products, and I'll definitely post the next one I find.

50 Michelle June 13, 2009 at 11:47 pm

Hye, I know the deal is over but does anyone have an extra one by any chance?
Will love to trade it for something maybe.
And my stupid printer found the good time to be out of ink, and the store out of the cartridge. lol
Can't wait until they're back
