Win-It Wednesday: Sony Vaio Netbook + F-Secure Internet Security!

September 29, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 2,278 Comments

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

With school back in session, more kids will be online than ever before doing homework, looking up information and playing educational games in addition to the hours spent on Facebook and emailing and instant messaging friends they would normally do. Keeping them safe as they browse is important, so you don’t have to worry about what websites they’re clicking through to and you can protect your computer as well from viruses and other internet threats.

F-Secure’s Internet Security 2011 features Browsing Protection to keep viruses, worms and spyware at bay, not allowing your children to click through to those sites. There are also advanced Parental Controls so that you can block sites with inappropriate content and keep your kids safe.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom winner will win a Sony Vaio 10″ Netbook and 1-year of F-Secure’s Internet Security 2011!

To enter, visit the F-Secure website and then come back and tell me one thing you learned about staying safe online while you were there.

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

If you are reading this in your email or feed reader, please CLICK HERE to visit the original blog post to enter. Email entries will not be counted.

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Visit the F-Secure website and tell me one thing you learned there.

2. Join the Deal Seeking Mom community on Facebook for more conversation, additional deals and a peek at the freebies I receive in the mail each week. Come back and leave a separate comment letting me know you’ve done so!

3. Join the Deal Seeking Mom Forums to chat about your great finds, special coupon codes, and chances to win exclusive giveaways. Come back and leave a separate comment letting me know you’ve joined or that you’re already a registered user!

4. Subscribe to my feed via RSS or email. You must confirm your email subscription for it to be a valid entry! Leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so. If you’re already a subscriber, simply leave a separate comment letting me know you’re already subscribed. Lovin’ my subscribers! You guys make this all possible.

Prize:
(1) 10″ Sony Vaio Netbook and 1-year F-Secure Internet Security 2011

This giveaway ends at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, 9/30 and is open to all U.S. residents 18 years or older. I’ll use Comment Contest to select the winning comment. Winner will be notified by email and listed on my Giveaway Winners page. Winners must respond within 48 hours of notification to claim their prize. Good luck!

While you’re in a contest entering mood, don’t forget to check out the Giveaway Gathering for a variety of contests being hosted on Deal Seeking Mom readers’ blogs!

Scan all computers with F-Secure Anti-Virus, using the latest database updates (available here). If some workstations do not have the latest updates, transfer and install the updates via removable media.

I learned that when shopping online, one has to make sure the checkout process is done via https, which stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer. This means the process is encrypted and safe.

They offer protection for smartphones. I didnt even think our phone could get hit. But that would be great to protect our blackberry.

I learned how spammers and identity thiefs use social networks like Facebook – and to protect yourself by thinking about the personal info you post on such sites.

I learned one thing I am guilty of in trying to minimize my spam is that I should not be clicking on the “unsubscribe” at the bottom of emails, that it actually can cause you to get more.

I am a current subscriber; love and appreciate it! I have learned as a result of visiting the f-secure site, that our cell phones can become a big security threat if left unattended (who does that!?) :-D and that opening messages and installing malware often part of messages from people we don’t know can risk access to our personal information – as seriously as your computer!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
