Win-It Wednesday: Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen from Gummy Lump!

July 21, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

We love toys that foster creativity and independent play, and the Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen certainly fits the bill! Gummy Lump sent us this gorgeous kitchen for my girls to try out, and I’ve been regularly “dining” on homecooked gourmet lunches and snacks courtesy of my two daughters ever since.

The Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen is very sturdy and spacious, and I love the bright colors and design, especially the retro cherries. It was shipped in two separate (very heavy) boxes, but it only took my husband about an hour to put it together. I suspect it probably would have only taken half the time if he’d had a little less “help.” You know the saying about too many cooks…

The Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen is currently on sale for $199.99, plus you get FREE shipping! Also, when you buy 3 Melissa & Doug Play Food Sets, you’ll get the 4th set FREE! No coupon necessary.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a Melissa & Doug Play Kitchen from Gummy Lump!

To enter, tell me if you have wooden toys in your home? Do you have a favorite?

I love M&D toys. As a mom of a special needs child the wooden toys are a safe playing field for her. She gets to explore and look closely (she’s visually impaired) at the parts without having to worry about plastic pieces poking. Hope she wins!

My daughter loves anything related to cooking, baking, chopping and putting together. We own few Melissa and Doug cooking sets – pizza, fruits and veggies, 4 dif sets of food. All wooden. Maria is 2.5. But I can see her future someday on the Food Network. LOL! Hope we can win this kitchen. It would be her dream – I am sure of that! Great day to everyone!!!

My favorite wooden toys of my daughter’s are her wooden puzzles. They hold up so well and fit together so nicely. She has a bad habit of bending the cardboard puzzles!

Having raised six children and am now enjoying our 13 (so far) grandchildren, I can vouch for the durability of wooden toys. I’ve kept age appropriate storage boxes full of toys, ready to delve into whenever they visit. All of the wooden toys have outlasted even the best brands. Our oldest ‘child’ is 42 and I still have his! Oh how I would love to set up this sweet Melissa and Doug kitchen permanently in Granny’s kitchen, so I could enjoy watching them pretend.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
