Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 19-25 this year, and it is a great time to check over your current safety seat situation and make sure your kids are secure and plan for what you will need as your children grow. With many parents not knowing the laws or the guidelines for when to move their children between rear-facing safety seats and convertible seats to booster seats and beyond, this is definitely a topic worth paying attention too and reading up on.
Research done by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has shown that risk of injury to children is reduced by 60% when a belt-positioning booster seat is used rather than seat belts alone. For instance, in my state of Ohio, as of last year, 1/6/09, the law states that children between 4 and 8 years of age need to be secured in a booster seat. This is to protect children in the case of an accident who are not yet as large as an adult, but who have outgrown their car seat.
A few features of the Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster Seat:
- Easy to install and use.
- Height and width are adjustable with one hand
- Fabric cover is removable and machine washable
- Converts to backless booster for children 40 lbs – 100 lbs
- “EPS” Energy Absorbing Foam provides enhanced impact protection
- Triple side protection: head, shoulders and lumbar
- Deep side wings support child’s head and neck while napping
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster Seat!

Illinois’ new “Booster Law” went into effect January 1st, 2004. In most cases, it is now illegal to transport an unrestrained child in Illinois. Hope I win this we are in need of one bad.

I believe it is height 4’9″ and weight I’m not positive on. I also think there is an age requirement…I should probably learn these things. Our little one is just turning one, so we have a bit yet.

Here in VA, the law is a booster until age 8. I know it is recommended to go to 80 lbs though, and since my 8 year old only weighs 50lbs, he’s going to be in one for a long time!
