Win-It Wednesday: Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster Seat!

September 8, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 19-25 this year, and it is a great time to check over your current safety seat situation and make sure your kids are secure and plan for what you will need as your children grow. With many parents not knowing the laws or the guidelines for when to move their children between rear-facing safety seats and convertible seats to booster seats and beyond, this is definitely a topic worth paying attention too and reading up on.

Research done by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has shown that risk of injury to children is reduced by 60% when a belt-positioning booster seat is used rather than seat belts alone. For instance, in my state of Ohio, as of last year, 1/6/09, the law states that children between 4 and 8 years of age need to be secured in a booster seat. This is to protect children in the case of an accident who are not yet as large as an adult, but who have outgrown their car seat.

A few features of the Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster Seat:

  • Easy to install and use.
  • Height and width are adjustable with one hand
  • Fabric cover is removable and machine washable
  • Converts to backless booster for children 40 lbs – 100 lbs
  • “EPS” Energy Absorbing Foam provides enhanced impact protection
  • Triple side protection: head, shoulders and lumbar
  • Deep side wings support child’s head and neck while napping

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster Seat!

To enter, tell me how long a child needs to be in a booster seat in your state. Is it six years old, seven, eight? Do they need to be both an age and a weight before moving out of a booster seat?

+++++++++++++++

    Florida state law requires children under age 5 to be protected with an approved and properly used child restraint device. For children under 3, Florida law requires that they be in a separate car seat or a car seat that is integrated into the vehicle. For children ages 4 and 5, a separate car seat, integrated car seat or seat belt may be used. this giveaway is creating awareness for carseat laws in different states which is good to learn, thanks

    Children MUST be secured in an appropriate child passenger restraint (safety seat or booster seat) IN THE BACK SEAT OF A VEHICLE until they are at least 6 years old or weigh at least 60 pounds. This is for California…would LOVE to win this…kinda in a financial bind right now after husband was shot in the back of his head while working…expecting our 2nd child with in 15 months…times are gonna be rough…but we’ll make it!

    In California, you have to be at least 6 years old or 60 lbs. to remain in a carseat. I think they are trying to make it 8 years old or 80 lbs., but it hasn’t passed yet.
