Kids, ice cream, and summertime — they all just seem to go together, don’t they? One of our favorite places to go for ice cream treats is our local SONIC Drive-In. Sure we can get our ice cream fix elsewhere, but few establishments offer the ambiance of SONIC.

My kids adore the ’50s-style drive-in layout and watching the employees rollerskate around, taking orders and delivering meals with ease. As you can see from the photos above, the ice cream offerings aren’t too shabby either! There’s a real ice cream treat to fit everyone’s tastes.

    Though ice cream is good most any way, I have fond memories of good twist soft serve covered with candy crunch covered with cone dip, so creamy and yum.

    There is an old town drive in, in saginaw that sells homemade root beer. It is phenominal on ice cream for root beer floats!

    I worked at Sonic for years, so I’ve tried pretty much everything they have to offer, and my favorites, in no particular order are: strawberry cream slush, hot fudge shake, banana cream pie shake, rootbeer float, and chocolate malt.

    There is a place in saginaw called old town drive in that make homemade rootbeer. It is phenominal on ice cream!

    Chocolate malt. Mmmmm. Can’t go wrong there! Also, I would like to say that as a Texan who just moved home from Columbus last year, I missed my Sonic!!! The one way down in Whitehall was too far for me and they opened on on Stelzer by where I lived- the week after I moved away. Seriously? What a tease!

    I was really sad when Sonic retired their peanut butter shake! Now I stick with strawberry.
