Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

As schools let out for summer, Borders is Double Dog Daring you with their Summer Reading Challenge. Getting kids to do anything that isn’t on a bike, in a pool or in front of the TV during summer break can sometimes be a daunting task, yet continued reading is important for their minds to continue to grow and bend. Have your child under 12 years old sign up for the challenge at the Borders store nearest you. All they have to do is read any 10 books this summer and they’ll receive a FREE book!

HarperCollins and Jon Scieszka, author of Robot Zot, have provided this week’s tip for getting kids to read:
“If you want to inspire your boy reader, expand your definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, funny books, wordless books, audio books and magazines. Summer reading is a great time to explore texts that aren’t covered/allowed in school reading.”
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a $100 Borders Gift Card!
To enter, tell me one way you get your kids to read over the summer. What tips and tricks can you share that have them turning off the TV and opening a book?
Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

My kids love our library’s reading program. Also we visit the library a lot during the summer to get them interested in reading different types of books.

The library is a great place to get kids motivated to read.

We do the summer reading programs at the library and at Barnes and Noble.

My best advice, my child is really young (2 year old), is to set a good example. If I turn off the TV to read my daughter will grab one of her books and sit down beside me to flip through the pages.

I let her pick out her own books or I buy her favorite series. She loves to read, so it’s not hard!

we dont have kids yet but my husband is in school and we’d love to use this to purchase his textbooks online!

My kids love getting books on tape that they can follow along with. We pick them up at the library. Saves money. I also have the kids read books that they can then be rewarded with the movie. This is their absolute favorite. They are in the process of reading Harry Potter. They are 8 and 9 and love to read. We started with Ella Enchanted when my daughter got the book and movie as a gift.

My little guy is only 2, so we just sit down and read to him. It’s easy at this age. :)

I read to them & use character voices – it’s hard to keep them straight if the story has a lot of people, but it keeps the kids interested :)

My son is only 2-years-old, but we are surrounding him with books. We don’t spend much time in front of the tv. Every day before nap time, we sit down and read about 5 or 6 books. Then, at bedtime, we let him have some books in bed to look at while going to sleep. Hoping to instill a love for reading at a young age. Going to try to add storytime at the library very soon.
