I like to make gift baskets for teachers, usually with a theme. Last year was “movie night” with microwaveable popcorn, a blockbuster gift card, boxed movie candy, and a tub to put popcorn in. It was a big hit!

My daughter loves making cookies and the little sleighs made out of candy and putting them in a cute tin or box (a lot of nice ones available at the dollar stores) and dressing them up with ribbons. We already make a TON of cookies, so it’s not much extra at all!

I subscribe via email. My son is still a baby but I am giving his babysitter 50% of her weekly fee and gift certificates to TRU for her grandkids that I have gotten for free when shopping there!

Something homemade from kids would be nice or a coffee mug filled with pens.

I’ve not had to deal with this yet, but I think that something personal from the student is the best way to go. Either a letter or drawing or poem that tells a memory that kid has had. Right now, I give my day care provider a box of homemade cookies/candies.

When my boys were in high school – 3 at one time – and had a different teacher for each subject, plus coaches, plus all the great people in the office, I used to bake 5-6 batches of brownies, cut them into squares, and have the boys deliver the boxes to the faculty lounge saying Merry Christmas from
name, graduation year for all 3 boys. Kept that up till the last one graduated, and kept including all 3 boys on it to remind them of the impact they had on our family and how grateful we were to them.

I always make sure the Teacher recieves something homemade by my child. I makes it more special in my eyes that a child put their whole heart into making an extra special gift for them!

I send a short email survey near the beginning of the school year to the classroom teachers, then watch for sales/coupons for their favorite snacks & candle scents. Scored some great clearance chocolate at WG before Halloween candy went out & some Glade candle scents with all their great coupons this fall. My kids can pay themselves for things the teachers will actually use because we get each item less than $1!

I also make unique, personalized gifts. From a classroom picture pillow, to hall way passes with the teachers info -laminated, hot/cold compress made of jasmine rice, personalized notepads, and many other hand made things that teachers need. I always add a personal gift that is just for her. This way, she gets the best of both worlds!

As an educator myself, I truly enjoy handmade cards that the children make. It makes it really special when parents give all creativity to their children and allow them to create something that came from them. One year I recieved a photo of me and one of my students inside a frame that was decorated by my student. I still have it after 6 years!
