Do It Yourself Giveaway: $100 Home Depot Gift Card

December 22, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

gingerbread_man_cardHome Depot is my favorite store to shop at for DIY projects, and we’ve often purchased Home Depot gift cards for our family members because it’s a fun and easy gift idea. After all, they have something for everyone!

Home Depot gift cards are a great idea for the do-it-herself-ers and handymen on your gift lists, and if you’re scrambling for some last minute ideas, this is a great solution! This year The Home Depot has 17 holiday gift card styles to choose from, including a scratch-n-sniff gingerbread man that can be decorated with stickers and a card that looks and feels like it is covered with the handyman’s wrapping paper – duct tape.

Maybe a gift card is too impersonal for you and you’re still struggling to come up with new holiday gift ideas? This year, leave the sweaters and fruit baskets behind and get the do-it-yourselfer in your life a selection of great tools, which can be affordable and practical gifts that last for years and never go out of style. The Home Depot offers hundreds of tools and home improvement products ensuring that you’ll find appropriate gifts for the new homeowner, weekend warrior or experienced pro. Featured in the photos below are the new Ryobi® Lithium-Ion 4 Piece 12V Kit (Price: $149, SKU 285-630) and the new Makita 10.8V Li-Ion 2 Piece Cordless Combo Kit (Price: $179, SKU 637-212).

I would buy a new toilet. Ours is about 30 years old and came with the new house we purchased. It’s inefficient, too short and is being to show signs of its age with mechanical and physical problems. I would buy the American Standard Town Square Right Height (16-1/2 In.) Round Front Toilet Bowl With Seat in Linen.

We would use it to purchase a new pump for our jacuzzi tub! My husband can do the work, but replacing the pump has not been in the budget.

What a great giveaway. I would spend the gift card on my son. We are transitioning his room to his “big boy” room and I could use the money to get new things to make his room look more grown up.

There are so many things that need to be done to our home and barn – I think $100.00 would go for home repairs – windows for the dining room, roof for the barn, outlets in various rooms, repair to appliances, no end of items needing attention. :)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
