Last week our Sonicare toothbrushes traveled with us to Outer Banks, North Carolina. No major injuries this year, but we did get off to a rocky start after my youngest son got sick at breakfast right after we left, requiring us to backtrack home for a bath and change of clothes. Then we ended up spending our first night sleeping in our Yukon in a Walmart parking lot because there weren’t any hotel rooms in Kitty Hawk.
We finally made it to our beach house the next day exhausted but ready for fun, only to have Mandi and her family lose their rear bumper on the 4×4 beach — that was quite a sight! But we ended up having a fabulous time swimming, climbing the Currituck Beach Lighthouse (WHAT were we thinking with nine kids between us?!?), and visiting the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
Our Sonicare brushes performed brilliantly throughout the trip. I left the chargers at home because I wanted to test the longevity of a single charge, so I was a little nervous that they’d be nearly dead by the time we got home. However, I was delighted to see that they were still going strong as our trip neared its end!
What a treat it was be able to look out the window while brushing our teeth and see this every morning:

Your sunrise photo makes me want to go back to the OBX! We just got back less than 2 weeks ago. To save money we set a spending budget and stuck to it, cooked most of our meals, and brought a lot of items from home. What do you recommend to save money on vacation?
Tara Kuczykowski
Hey, Jennifer! You’ll find some good tips here: https://dealseekingmom.com/ask-dsm-readers-vacationing-for-less/
We did a bulk shop at Sam’s Club before we left and brought a lot of our food with us, so that helped tremendously.

Our family was in the Outer Banks last week too!!! We were in Duck! Where did you guys stay?!
Tara Kuczykowski
Oh, fun! We were in Corolla on Carova Beach — it was so beautiful.
Adele
It was beautiful! What a great week we had with weather! I can’t believe how cold the ocean was! We’ve never seen it that cold when we’ve been down there!!!
Tara Kuczykowski
Yeah, I was really surprised by how much the water temps fluctuated on a daily basis too. Some days it was downright frigid!
Chrissy
I can’t believe you survived the night sleeping in the truck!!!
Tara Kuczykowski
LOL, yeah, it was really quite comical. My oldest son slept on the suitcases in the middle aisle, and I ended up with a sticky, sweaty 2-year-old on me all night, but the rest of the tip made up for the inconvenience.

LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL family!!

Thanks, Erica!

I actually did the Sonicare deal at Walgreen’s this week – but I ALSO used the 15% Friends and Family coupon AND was able to submit for a $5 MIR. That made the Sonicare toothbrush only $24.99!
Debbie J
Nicole mentioned below that there was a $5 MIR for the Sonicare toothbrush. Where do I find that?
Raya
Wow, Tara!
Isn’t that a coincidence — we just visited the Wright Brothers Memorial in june! Check it out

Your youngest could be lactose intolerate. It took me YEARS to figure it out! It seems to be exacerbated by the moving vehicle, though. Every Sunday morning on the way to church after having a good breakfast with milk, he would “get sick” :-) Now he takes a lactose intolerance pill and all is well. ( I thought he was allergic to church) :-)
