Walmart & Target: Travel Size Hungry Hippos $0.99

September 23, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 36 Comments

Travel Hungry Hippos
I mentioned in the Walmart deals I posted the other day that you can pick up the travel size Hungry Hippos game for just $0.99. I just found the same item available at Target, so I thought you might be interested in seeing a photo of the actual item!

Note that at Target these were not located in the regular game aisle with the toys. I found several travel games located on an endcap in the travel section of the store where the luggage and travel-size blankets and pillows are stocked. I’m not sure where they’re located at Walmart, so if you’ve found them there, please share.

Hungry Hippos Travel Size Game, $4.79
$4/1 Hasbro printable
$0.79 after coupon!

These would make cute stocking stuffers or small gifts for a classroom gift exchange. After all, Christmas is only 92 days away!!!

I’d like to know where they are at Wal-mart too. I was all over that store today and never found it. :( So, if you found them, please do share!!!

I read this on facebook…”You can actually get these travel games for free…go to a site like “afullcup” that posts Target’s own coupons and print out the one for Hasbro games. It makes all these travel games free!” I’m going to do this to get “stocking stuffers” for the “Shoe Box”ministry.

The Hasbro Target Q you referenced is only applicable to some of the Hasbro games, not all. I think it has specific games listed on the Q.

I’ve not been able to find them at Walmart. We only have one Target for a 150 mile radius- so it’s always an empty shelf tag there!

I found it at Target in the toy section. It wasn’t on the shelves with the rest of the games but on one of the end caps with the Connect Four travel game.

I have found these at several Targets. Some are an endcap by the suitcases, others are an endcap by the toys (both Hungry Hippos and Connect Four).

I haven’t had any luck finding them at Walmart, so again if anyone finds them, let us know!

Does anyone know how many coupons you can print? It is saying that I’ve already reached my limit and I only printed one off awhile ago and never used it. Thanks!

I printed off two of these coupons when they first came out a month ago…and I RAN to the Target w/hubby to buy two (since it says one coupon per purchase I had him buy the other one). We took the last two on the hook but I’ve since seen all travel sized games displayed at the end of the car accessory section.
I’ve gotten to be apprehensive about using some coupons with the horror stories I read about cashiers, but my cashier gave me kudos for finding such a great deal!

My Target absolutely refused to take this coupon claiming it was only for the regular size game. I argued that it said “any hungry hippos game…” but they wouldn’t budge.

The Target coupon for 5$ off is good off ALL Hasbro games not just the ones listed on the coupon. I’ve gotten all the travel games for free and got 5$ off of Bop It! and Yahtzee

I can’t find this at either of my Target stores or Wal-Mart. I’m so bummed! I too wanted them for the Operation Shoebox. I had the employee search all merchandise for it today and she said they no longer carry the travel Hungry Hippos! grrr

Went all over Target and Walmart today, couldn’t find it. Target says they don’t carry it. Bummer. I did get a good deal on the regular sized Connect 4×4 game though. They have a promo for: Free 2 liter of Pepsi and free 12-14.2 oz bag of Doritos with purchase of this game.
So, regular game price = $19.99
    on sale for $15
used the $4 off coupon that I printed at the above mentioned site. Came to $11.00 for game, pepsi and doritos

I got one!! Target in Danielson, CT. I purchased the Hungry Hippo Travel size and also 4 of the Sara Lee deli meats. They have the Sara Lee on clearance even though the date of the meats was 10/15.
All five items for a whopping .44 cost to me!! Woo hoo!!

I have looked everywhere for the travel Hungry Hungry Hippos game and have been totally out of luck… until I remembered having it when I was a kid. I called my mom and, what do ya know, she still has it! So I got it for free and still have the coupon if I do come across it somewhere! :)

Went through 2 WalMarts, 1 Kmart, and a Target and the closest I got was that I found a Connect 4 at Target. I forgot about trying the car accessory area – I’ll look tomorrow. I kinda hope everyone who is doing this for charity remembers not to clear the shelves so others who come behind them can get the deal too. While it’s nice to help out those in need, it kinda messes up other people’s days when they go to get this deal for their kids or grandkids, and it’s been wiped out. Not that it’s the people here, but on some sites I’ve seen people brag that they got 50 of something that was supposed to be one or two per person and that they did it to donate to charity.

They have the Hungry Hippos at Family Dollar for $5 as well. Our Family Dollar is coupon friendly. Good luck in finding more deals.

Linda, I noticed that it says “only applicable on one game in mutliple game purchase”, and I took that to mean that if you buy several games, you can’t apply that one coupon for all of them.

FYI- I also found the Hungry Hippos travel game at Family Dollar priced at $5 and was able to use the coupon to get it for a buck! They didn’t have Connect 4 at the location I was at…although I was on the lookout for it because they had Battleship and some other game in the travel size as well.

P.S.. My Walgreens had the Connect 4 travel games and I was able to use the Connect 4 Coupons Hasboro had for that as well… actually though.. as I was waiting to check out, I actually noticed the coupon read Connect Four 4 x 4 game- which must be some new version of the game or something… and the game I got was just the original version, but I was already in line so I thought I would give it a shot- and it worked! The games there are $2 more than what they were for me at Family Dollar on the Hippos game, but still a great discount for gifts!

I couldn’t find the HH travel game, but will check where you mentioned. I did find a HH playdoh playset and when I asked if I could use the Q for it, they let me. Probably because it says on ANY Hippo game…paid a little over a $1 and it’s a really cute version on HH :)

With one day to spare (coupon expires tomorrow) I found the HH travel game at my local Target (Escondido – North San Diego, CA). On the end cap of the luggage aisle. And no problem with the coupons. Had two so bought two games for our shoeboxes. Definitely one of the best deals I found for shoebox items to pack. Also saw the HH play doh set. Totally cute but opted for the travel game because of the coupons. Thanks for posting this one … awesome deal! :)
