On April 22nd only, you can take your empty ink cartridges, black or color, to the photo center at Walgreens and get them refilled for only $1. This is a great opportunity to not only get cheap ink, but to reuse and recycle as well. All refills are 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Just think of all the coupons you’ll be able to print!!
Refills are available for the following printer brands:
- Dell
- HP
- Lexmark
- Okidata
- Primera
- Sharp
- Xerox
You can also visit Walgreens Ink Center for additional information or specific printer models.
While you’re there, make sure to pick up some reusable shopping bags. You can 3 for $1 when you use the in-ad coupon.

Walgreens has selected locations for ink refills in Cols OH. Also please check on your kind of cartridge because not all are refilled. Go to the link listed above.

How many inks will they refill for $1? Can you just do one per location or can I take in several and get them all done at the $1 each price?
Angie
Has anyone had luck with this. I have taken our empty ink ones to get refilled and they are never able to refill them.
CHI
Does anyone know if you can refill cartridges that are not originals? I have several cartridges that I bought from a ink refilling Co. online. They are not HP branded cartridges, but fit my HP printer
Stacy
The ad does not state a limit on how many so I am assuming you can bring in a bunch. As for everything else – I would suggest visiting the http://www.walgreens.com/ink to find a participating store and to read their FAQ. They also list a complete list of printer models that they refill cartridges for. I would call ahead to see if they can refill the already recycled cartridges.

Ugh! I just refilled mine a couple weeks ago. Darn the luck.

Angie: I know what you mean. I use Lexmark 14/15 and Walgreens do like 16/17. Skip over mine for some reason. Plus the participating stores are scattered around. Hope they have more stores and cartridges soon.
I have been only printing out coupons in black ink. I can specify and this saves alittle.
Amy
I have done this a few times. The first time it worked really well. The second time they messed something up and it never printed right. I finally bought a new cartridge on clearance at Target. I’m not sure if I will ever try it again. BTW, it is easier to refill them if they are not completely out of ink. My HP printer tells me when we are low on ink, but it will only do this for a new HP brand cartridge.
Lori
for a buck, even if you just got it filled a couple weeks ago, or it’s not out, I would think it’d be a great deal to just “top it off”.
Megan
I never refill at Walgreen again. I did it twice and I had to buy new cartridges after that.

I’m going to try this. What a great deal! I’ve been missing out on some great deals lately because I haven’t been able to get mine refilled.

Try taking the Walgreens coupon to your office supply store or your cartridge refill store. This worked for me in the past.

I am very very satisfied by Walgreen’s ink refills.
I own a Lexmark printer, that was very cheap, but the ink cartridges are very expensive. So, I started using Walgreen’s to refill my cartridges, a few years ago, and I have been very happy with their service.
BTW…About the “top it off” comment – they do NOT do that. They will drain out all existing ‘old’ ink, and then totally refill the cartridge with ‘new’ ink. They do NOT mix the old ink with the new ink.
Mindy
i would never take my cartirdges there again! i know like 3 people and myself that have had problems. ours exploded in our printer and we had to buy a whole new printer! not a good deal after that! we get our replacements from newegg.com and they are the cheapest around.

I decided to try the refill thing with Walgreens about a year ago for my HP printer ink, and they said it didn’t work, so they didn’t charge me anything, but the lady told me to try it at home anyway. I did, and it worked great! So, I brought it in again, and again, the guy at the counter told me it didn’t pass the test. Again, it was fine at home. I’ve gone almost a year without having to pay any money for my refills – then about a month ago, it passed the test, so I had to pay for it. But, hey! I don’t mind, because I got so many for free! I love that service! :)

I’ve been keeping this $1 deal in mind since it was first posted here. I can’t find any reference to it on the Walgreens website, but I do have a coupon for it in this week’s Walgreens sales ad. It looks like we’ll only be able to refill one cartridge per coupon.
P
Do you need a coupon?
Stacy
Yes, you will need the coupon from Sunday’s ad, which you get at the store if you don’t have it at home.

The printer ink cartridge refill is not what it appears. I’ve tried twice, two different occasions, to refill a Lexmark 17 and 27 cartridge. They advertise they can fill it, and accept it at the counter as being able to be filled, but on each occasion, they said they received an “error” message and their printing test failed, so therefore they can not sell it. The manager claimed there was ink put into the cartridge, but the quality wasn’t up to their standards, so they can not sell it. I took it home and there was no ink in the cartridge. Manager claimed they fill Lexmark brands “all the time”, but both times “I must have coincidently given them a unfillable cartridge.” Uh?

I’ve had a cartridge refilled in the past and it worked out fine. I filled two cartridges today for $2, what a deal!! There was a posted sign that said customers could only get three cartridges filled due to time constraints, but that’s more than enough for most people. If there are 24 hour locations near you, there’s still time!
Brandy
i haven’t ever tried this service…I did’nt even know it existed until I read the first post about this deal a few days ago! I am pretty anxious to try them out. I figure spending 4 bucks for roughly 60 dollars worth of ink is worth a shot. I dropped off four cartridges at my local store, and they didnt’ have anything posted about a limit on cartridges per customer or anything about having to use a coupon…just one big banner that read “bring your empty cartridges in on April 22nd and have them refilled for $1”. If they work then this will by far be my favorite DSM money-saving tip!

It’s actually not necessarily “keeping” the art, but I know of many parents scan/take photos of art as well as other projects that come home from practice, and after that create a photo book. They hang onto by far the most prized projects, but aren’t hanging onto 100 red paintings or stick figure drawings.
