Toys R Us Lego Deal: Today Only

March 24, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 13 Comments

Toys R Us
My two oldest boys are super into Legos, so I’m definitely taking advantage of this deal. But first I wanted to post it so everyone can get in on the savings!

Three offers combine to make this deal so great:

  • Shop through Cashbaq for 2% back on your total purchase at Toys R Us.
  • Get a FREE 221-piece Lego tub (ARV $16.99) with $30 Lego purchase.
  • $10 off $30 with code Twitterdeal24, exp. 10 p.m. EST 3/24

4 easy steps to save:

1. Click to shop through Cashbaq for your 2% back. If you’re a new Cashbaq customer, you’ll get a $5 bonus just for registering!

2. Once you’re on the TRU website, add $30 worth of Lego products to your shopping cart. Qualifying items that are $30.99 and still available are:

  • LEGO SpongeBob: Rocket Ride (3831)
  • LEGO Mars Mission: ETX Alien Infiltrator (7646)
  • LEGO Castle: Tower Raid (7037)
  • LEGO Agents: Gold Hunt (8630)
  • LEGO Bionicle: Takanuva (8699)
  • LEGO Creator: Beach House (4996) – $31.99 but SO cute!

Or you could combine a number of smaller qualifying sets to reach $30. The free 221-piece set is added automatically.

3. Enter Twitterdeal24 in the “Using a promotional code?” box and click “Apply.”

4. Check out as normal and get $47 worth of Legos for approximately $20 (plus tax and shipping)!

Thanks to Saving with Shellie for sharing!

I got mine for around $7. We got a Toys R Us credit card before our 1st baby was born. We get gift cards that can be used at either TRU or BRU. Had about $22 of gc in my purse. Sweet deal!

No — you have to actually click on the free set and put it in your cart. Otherwise, you don’t have it. And since the free set is now out of stock, you will only have your $30+ set in your order. I just spoke to a CSR, who gave me this information. We ended up cancelling my order; if the free sets come back in stock, I may reorder then.

I just had a similar problem… the free set didn’t show up in my cart and so I called customer service this morning and he told me that you can’t do both promotions at once. He said that when I entered the twitter promotional code it knocked out the free set. So I tried to cancel my order (it is already being processed… so not sure if it will get cancelled) and he suggested I try to order it again to get the free one -and yes you have to actually add the free set to your cart. Not as good a deal, but it seemed that the free set was still available and will be until March 28th (according to the CSR).

I just tried, too, and it said that the promotion code has now expired. Boo hoo! I guess it’s true that “The early bird gets the worm!” :)

I think a lot of people are going to be very upset when they receive their order. You can’t use the promotion and the set together as stated above. I noticed on my shipping confirmation just now that it wasn’t listed, called and was delivered the bad news. Sometimes not all info on the blogs are 100% correct and I’ve lost money to it so I will do better research from now on. I have to stalk my UPS man so I can do a return to sender and have PLEASE REFUND written on the package. Hopefully it’ll work out.

I’m really sorry to hear that, Karen. However, I don’t think this is a case of bloggers reporting misinformation. TRU is a large corporation and certainly knows how to code their coupons so that they can’t be used in conjunction with each other if they are not meant to be. They allowed these orders to process and should be honoring them, but if they don’t, you’re certainly within your rights to refuse the package when it arrives.

Some tips – even if you’re not home when it’s delivered, as long as you DO NOT OPEN the package, you can still refuse it. Just write “Refused – Return to Sender” on the package, and drop it off with whatever carrier delivered it. You can even use the FedEx and UPS boxes to return them.
