i got the whitestrips with no problem. i definitely pick the cashier that i think will not give me any problems the younger the better and usually male. very stereotypical but it usually works. i worked as a cashier at walmart in college and truthfully never really paid attention to the coupons as long as they were not expired and sometimes i didn’t even look at that!

I am visiting family in Oregon (so I wanted to show off to my Mom who taught me about coupons at a young age) and went to Target yesterday (Hillsboro) with my coupons and policy in tow. I got the Crest Whitestrips ($4.99) with no problem, 1 box of poptarts and the Baked Lays (1 Target q+ 1 manu q), trial size Tide and All small mighty w/ coupons with no problems… the cashier was aware of their policy. They were out of the Scrubbing Bubbles… BUT good thing because I did not have the coupon for the $5 gc (but after reading the comments I found where to look). I am going to try another Target today – we have several in the area. Also, my coupon insert has the Windex Outdoor All-In-One $5 gf, but not going to be using it. Reading the ‘comments’ section has proved to be very useful many times.

good news, target customer rep replied saying they DO adjust manufacturer coupon down to the item price if it exceeds the $…the rep says if there’s problem, have target call them…(note, this is not the first time that my local target refuses to do this, plus they said when they called them, they were told not to adjust…so it’s hard to argue)

Target! What a deal! I went yesterday and they were out of scrubbing bubbles. Went back today….In stock. So I had my $7 off, it was on sale for $12.99 so out of pocket was $6. Got the $5 GC and then I bought the Windex kit for $12.99, had a $2.50 off coupon, used the $5 Gc and paid $5.49!! AND walked out with another $5 GC. not to bad! So Scrub.bubbles and clean windows,
total really….$6.50!!! I live in Chesapeake, VA

Just got home from Target. Got 2 Kashi cereal cups w/coupons. Needed a small bottle of laundry soap ($3.99). Used the $7 (from the last box) off the Trial Size Crest Strips for $4.99. The coupon went thru no problem and it paid for 1/2 the price of the laundry soap! I paid $1.98 total (and NO sales tax in Oregon). Still out of the Scrubbing Bubbles…

I need some advice about Target–I went today and scored some awesome deals. The problem is they refused to take any coupon that was for more than the item costs and they refused to adjust the coupon down. I tried this with sample items, as well as the crest white strips (which I’ve attempted to buy 2 times and they’ll never adjust the coupon down). I even spoke with the manager and showed him the print out of Target’s coupon policy and he refused, said that it would be like ” getting the item for free”??? In a situation like this do you contact corp?? If yes, what is the number? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Amy, I’d recommend calling customer service from one of the red phones while you’re still at the store. I know it’s a little bit of a hassle, but they will inform the manager of the correct policy, and hopefully it will prevent future issues for both you and other customers.

Thanks for the quick reply, Tara! Where are the red phones located?? (I’m sure I’ve seen them a million times, but can’t remember…lol) I’ve heard of some people calling corp. while they are standing in line when they don’t follow policy, have you ever done this ??

They should be located up by the customer service desk. I haven’t done it personally because I’ve never had a problem that wasn’t resolved in the store, but I’ve had many readers write to me about doing it.

target is always bad with knowing their own coupon policy. When you contact customer rep via phone/email, they tell you one thing, they even email you their policy. but when you get to the store, even managers deny their own policy. It happened to me every single time that they do not adjust coupons down to the sale price, even when I bring the email with me.
One time even the manager talked on the phone with the rep, and she came back telling me the rep told her they don’t adjust coupons.
I was tired of arguing and so i left.
But TARGET, when couponing, IS REALLY BAD TO DEAL WITH!
