Updated Great Value Packaging at Walmart

May 8, 2013 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

Have you noticed a change at your local Walmart? Walmart is currently in the process of redesigning the packaging for their store brand Great Value products.

The new packaging is still rolling out in stores, so you might see some old packaging mixed in with the new. While the older version features the Great Value logo in bold blue lettering, you’ll notice that the new packaging places more emphasis on the product contained within the package, with colorful, high quality photos that gives the product more of a national brand feel to it.

As I’m sure most of you are already aware, purchasing store brand alternative products can net you a significant savings over the comparable national brand. But there may be those of you who have been a little hesitant to take the leap. Perhaps you’ve felt a little self-conscious about placing those generic items in your cart… And while it’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of, image is a big deal for some people, so this new packaging that has more of a national product vibe may be just the little extra push needed to give the Great Value product line a try.

Items that you may find in store right now include canned vegetables, cookies, dry pasta, dry potatoes and stuffing, jams & jellies, and marshmallows. We particularly like stocking up on the marshmallows this time of year for impromptu marshmallow roasts.

One thing I should note is that with the updated Great Value packaging, you’ll still be receiving the same high quality product you’ve been purchasing at the same low price you’ve come to expect. Great Value pricing has not changed because of the new look.

Have you spotted the new Great Value packaging at your local store yet?

Easy Cinnamon Roll Waffles for Christmas Morning

December 18, 2012 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

I’ve been working on a little project with Great Value refrigerated doughs over on Unsophisticook, and the latest “recipe” I developed is for cinnamon roll waffles with cream cheese “syrup”. We made these on Sunday morning before my youngest daughter’s big gymnastics meet, and she seriously ate so many that I told her she wasn’t going to fit into her leotard anymore! So to say they were a hit is an understatement…

These cinnamon roll waffles are seriously so simple and easy to make — I’m not sure I’ll ever bake my cinnamon rolls again. We’ll be having them again on Christmas morning!

(BTW, she got bronze on bars and medaled on beam and in the all-around — not bad for the youngest girl on the team! Proud of my peanut.)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
