Chances are you’re already aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month… The facts are pretty sobering — 250,000+ women in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. In fact, it’s the most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death among Hispanic and Latina women.

I’ve had a number of friends touched by this terrible disease recently, so I’m thrilled to see so many brands partnering with various organizations to fund research. Every little bit helps, right? But I know I always sit up and take notice when a company is doing a little something more than just adding a pink ribbon to their profile for the month or releasing a limited pink version of their gadget.

So when I learned that Allstate Insurance Company is partnering with author Hollye Jacobs to offer FREE copies of The Silver Lining Companion Guide, I was happy to support them in spreading the word. The Silver Lining Companion Guide is a practical and supportive resource to help everyone impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis.

Salty-sweet combinations are my favorite — popcorn, nuts, and chocolate are guaranteed to make me smile. School is back in session, but that doesn’t mean we have to leave the summer fun behind! The weather here in Ohio is as hot as ever, so I thought I’d surprise my kids at the bus stop with a box of Popsicle Jolly Rancher popsicles, making me the “coolest” mom ever. :)

Have you seen the variety of flavors this classic treat has now? I swear it seemed like my Kroger store had an entire cooler section filled with various treats. BTW, did you know that Popsicle is the original popsicle brand?

My personal favorite are the Original Fudge Bars, but when I spied these new frozen pops featuring the fruity flavors of Jolly Rancher candies, I just knew my kids would flip. And I was right — they totally loved the icy cold, sour flavor.

And when they were finished, they had a blast telling each other the jokes on their sticks. “Why was the broom late for work? He overswept.” Ha!!!
