We like to go to the local creek in the park and go wading or play with bark boats. Kids love to have leaf races or stick races, as well as any kind of water war.

I’m sure someone has said this already, but only because it’s THE best frugal summer family activity – the public library! My city has several branches, all with different children’s areas my daughter enjoys. One branch also has a garden to enjoy reading in. Free, air conditioned, peaceful & educational… what’s not to love??

A fun frugal tip I read somewhere and tried is have a monthly “Spend-free” weekend. Camp in your backyard, pack a picnic at a local park, feed the ducks at a local pond, etc…GET CREATIVE. Have the kid help plan for a fun-filled, FREE weekend. Saves a lot of money- it’s amazing how much you spend on basically nothing every weekend.
