Our favorite frugal Summer Activity is to go to the drive in theatre! I make some fun treats and we pack up the van w/ bug spray, chairs and blankets and head out to watch a double feature! It only costs us $20 for our family of 6!!! That is a bargain!!!!

For a nice frugal and fun summer, we will taking advantage of our subdivision’s pool. I also plan on taking the little ones to the public library for books and storytime. Another idea I have is teaching my toddler basic gardening, though I know very little myself!

My frugal tip is to BE PREPARED on your summer outings so you don’t get stuck buying the $15 sunblock at the zoo or a 10th pair of sunglasses because you forgot yours at home on the kitchen counter. Yes, been there – done that. :)
Melanie
I love to look in the newspaper and find all of the free/cheap things going on through out the week. We also try to check out at least one new park or splash pad each week.
Melanie
I have your button on my blog!

I look in newspapers or online for all of the free activites going on in my community. Another good tip is BE PREPARED. Bring lunches and snacks with you. If you have everything you need with you, you won’t be suckered into the expensive food, etc wherever you go

We just built a sandbox in our backyard. We had a coupon at Lowe’s to make the wood and supplies cheaper and we found someone giving away sand so it ended up being relatively frugal. I’m sure we will be spending many hours out there this summer.
Anne Van Hoose´s last blog post..12 months!

Like Andi @ 24 we signed up for kidsbowlfree.com – 2 free games of bowling for each kid, every day! Shoe rental is $2.50 at our center, but they allow you to use your own bowling shoes if you have them…I’m cruising garage sales!
Nicola
Our frugal activity is going to the zoo. We have a family pass (my parents gave it to me for Mothers Day), parking is free and we pack a lunch. We get there for 10am for it opening and we leave about 1…getting home in time for naps. Total cost of the day=just gas. But to beat the heat, we play in the backyard, or go to our community pool.
