Soulful Giveaway: Win Seal’s Latest CD Soul

December 17, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

seal_soul_albumThe hustle and bustle of the holiday season has really been taking its toll lately.

As you can imagine, I don’t get a whole lot of “me” time as a mom of five, so I’ve learned to work in short bursts of relaxation when I can throughout the day to prevent myself from being overwhelmed by everything.

One of my favorite methods for relaxation lately is just taking a few minutes to listen to Seal’s latest CD, Soul. I close my eyes and just become one with the music, and after about 15 minutes I’ve regained most of my sanity and am ready to tackle life head on again.

Soul features eleven classic soul songs, and I truly feel like there’s something here for everyone. If you’d like to hear a taste, just check out the widget in my sidebar!

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a copy of Soul so he or she can kick back and relax a little, and as an added bonus, you’ll receive these great little Lego iPod speakers from Delight.com.
(I’m so jealous of these – I think they’re just adorable!)

Delight features eco-friendly tote bags, gadgets for guys, kitchen gear that is smart and saves time, travel essentials, one-of-a-kind baby gifts, stocking stuffers for holiday gift shopping and unique jewelry and décor accessories with most under $50.

So tell me how do you unwind after a rough day? Can you tell when you haven’t been taking enough time for yourself? How have your learned to make time? I know I struggle with this, so I would assume a lot of you do as well, and I’m looking forward to you sharing your tips.

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Share your tips on how to unwind and relax when you’ve had a difficult day.

2. Add Deal Seeking Mom to your blogroll or add my badge to your sidebar. I’ve got some surprises in store during the month of January for readers that help me spread the word about Deal Seeking Mom!  Get a head start by adding my site to your blogroll or my badge to your sidebar now.  Make sure to come back and leave the link to your site in a separate comment!

Prize:

I used to take a nice long bath but since my Plumber husband hasn’t fixed my tub…I take a long shower and LOCK the door! Well, as long as I can get away with…so usually around 15-20 minutes.

I hit the gym. Even just 20 minutes of cardio work is great at helping me unwind. And if it’s Monday or Thursday, I try to get to the cardio kickboxing class. I’ve been known to call that “percussive therapy”. Punching and hitting a bag is a great way to deal with whatever frustrations and stress has been getting to me.

I like to unwind by first starting with a hot bath. Then put my snuggie clothes on. Light aroma therapy candles. Sit by the fireplace sipping a glass of wine while listening to some soft music. Gee, I am getting relaxed just thinking about it. I love Seals music. Thank you for hosting this giveaway.

My favorite way to unwind depends on the season, as I live in Ohio. If it’s winter, I love to take 20 minutes to just sit and watch the fireplace, usually with a nice glass of wine or a cold beer.In the summer, I love to sit out by the pool with a fruity summery drink and just enjoy nature.

i made sure my kids had an early bedtime (8p) so that i could unwind for a couple hours after they were asleep. i sometimes called my neighbor and she and i would go to kohl’s after the kiddos were asleep and hubby’s would be watching tv. we’d try out different face products and come home refreshed. our hubby’s would then take a night for themselves and watch a movie together.

As a preschool teacher with a class of 20 three year olds I do come home and have to unwind! :) If it was an easy day I just make a cup of herbal tea and relax with my book. If the day was stressful…that’s when I put on my ipod and hop on my treadmill to work it off! I always feel so much better after about a half hour of brisk walking.

Besides my own kids, I run a daycare from my home so I always have lots of little ones everyday. After everyone leaves for the day, I make myself a nice mug of flavored coffee…my one indulgence for myself!!…sit down for about 15-25 minutes, put on my IPod, and read a magazine or read a chapter in whatever book I happen to be trying to finish!! After I have my coffee I’m good to go for the rest of the evening and for whatever else is in store for me!!

I make a cup of Chai Tea, I light my gas fireplace, I call my cat over to the sofa, and I sit and watch the fire and sip tea, while my cat purrs. It instantly relieves me of stress.

After a stressful day at work I love to stop at Walgreens and get a good deal! Finding a rebate item or getting something for a great price with coupons makes the day all better! Then when I get home, I hug the kitties and take a long hot soak in the tub.

To unwind I like to just take a few minutes to work on my Bible Study. This really helps me remember what life is all about. When I can’t take a minute without the little ones I try to snuggle with one of them. I have been very blessed with two cuddly boys. Sometimes just a hug from one of them makes my day.

I love to pour a glass of wine or make a cup of hot chocolate and curl up on the couch with a good book. I do this almost nightly and it really helps me unwind. When I don’t take time to unwind, I do not sleep as well.

I have found that the best way for me to unwind is to take the dog out for a walk and maybe to the dog park. They are so funny and undemanding. By the time I’m done I always feel better

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
