I think the cranberry dish will be my favorite this year (pregnancy cravings do change things a bit), but also all the cookies including: chocolate dipped macaroons, white chocolate chunk thimble cookies and oatmeal cranberry white chocolate cookies. I usually look for recipes on allrecipe.com, foodnetwork.com, taste of home, etc.

One of my favorite holiday dishes is a potato dressing that is an old family recipe from the German-Russian side of my family. You have to use a certain type of grinder to grind the potatoes and the turkey giblets or it just doesn’t come out right. It took me a year of searching to find my own grinder! Everyone in the family either loves it or hates it. One son loves it (and now makes it himself) and the other hates it. My hubby loves it, my 2 brothers-in-law hate it. One of them calls it “turkey hash”, so now that’s a family joke and that’s what we call it!

My favorite Christmas sweets are Divinity and Evies Date Nut Bars.. YUM! :)
Heres the recipe for the Date Nut Bars.. I promise you’ll love them! I make a double batch at a time & if I dont stand over them with a whip in my hand, they’re gone in a day! Serious!
Evies Date Nut Bars
Combine:
3/4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
Into a well, add & mix
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Add:
1 cup finely cut dates
1 cup chopped nuts (we use walnuts for this one)
Bake 350 20-25 minutes (or until the top is golden brown) in a greased 12x7x2 pan.
Dust the top with powdered sugar and let cool before cutting the bars.
DELISH!

I’m not a fan of a big Christmas dinner – I like to open gifts in the morning and then laze around the rest of the day playing w/ our new stuff, just eating snacks…so my favorites are toffee, brie & crackers, stuffed mushrooms, crackers and cheese. ..YUM YUM!
