I have seen this advertised before, but I am wondering what the earning truly is. I have heard the pay is not well, but I would like to hear from someone who actually has done it. I was wondering — How long have you been doing it? How many hous a day you have put into it? What is the hourly/weekly return on your invested time? Thanks for sharing!!

Belinda, the hourly/weekly time investment is completely at your discretion because you’re considered an independent contractor with most companies. I don’t do transcription anymore; however, when I did I averaged between $20-$25 an hour. Of course there are a lot of variables that factor in to how much can be earned — good grammar skills, attention to details, accurate typing skills, and a good ear for picking up what is spoken are all important qualities.

Thanks for the info Tara– could you go into a little more detail on how you do the transcription and get started. When you buy the 101 set then do you have to try to find clients and if so how do you do and how hard it is? Do you listen to audio and then type what you hear? Any additional info would be great.
    Thanks

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT. Read more.
