Protect Your Photos Giveaway: Picture Keeper Digital Photo Storage Device

January 8, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

Picture KeeperThe holidays are over, and if you’re anything like me you’ve probably got dozens, if not hundreds, of digital photos stored on your computer right now. If you’re also like me, you probably worry from time to time about losing them. Backing them up to CDs can be time consuming and tedious with much of the software I’ve tried.

So I was thrilled when Picture Keeper sent me their little gadget to try. It’s a fantastically simple way to safeguard irreplaceable digital photos. You just plug the little USB device into your computer, and it does all the work for you. It finds all of the pictures stored on your computer and saves them safely to the device. The next time you plug it in, it only pulls in new photos so you never had to worry about duplicates! You can even schedule back up reminders on their site, which this busy mom definitely needs.

The Picture Keeper comes in two sizes, 4GB which holds 4,000 pictures and 8GB which holds 8,000 pictures. If you’re not sure which size you would need to store your photos, check out their tutorial.

Through January Picture Keeper is offering readers $15 off with the code DealForMoms. This makes the 4GB Picture Keeper only $25! I think that’s a price well worth the peace of mind that comes from knowing my photos are secure outside of my computer (assuming one of the kiddos doesn’t run off with the device, LOL).

Better yet, Picture Keeper has graciously given me an 8GB Picture Keeper to give away to one lucky Deal Seeking Mom Reader. I love it when companies let me share these fabulous products with you all!

To enter share a little bit about your favorite photo(s) are that you’d put on your Picture Keeper!  I know I’ve got a lot of photos that I’d be upset over losing, but there are some that I’d be absolutely devastated over.

Every reader has three methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, or three for up to a total of 3 entries!!!

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Share some details about your favorite photos that you’d store safely on your Picture Keeper!

I have recently gotten a Nikon D80 and become obessesed with getting that perfect shot everywhere I go. I’ve got to say that I’m pretty good too. I have a thumb drive but it is so tedious to transfer pictures too and this product would make me jump for joy!

Seriously, if I win I’ll take a picture of it!

I need a safe place to store family and friend photos. They’re too dear to me to leave unprotected.

We purchased our first digital camera after the birth of our first daughter 8 years ago. 3 children later, we have countless photos of their births and major and minor milestones. Pictures are stored on 2 separate harddrives. The picture keeper would definitely make keeping them safe and in one spot easy!

I would definitely protect all my photos of my daughter growing up, but also all of the family vacations, including those of just me and my sweetie. A few years back, we had the opportunity to go to Cabo San Lucas with his company and after we got back I downloaded the pictures on the computer. Before I had a chance to print off any, my computer crashed. Not only did I have those pictures, but all of my other digital pictures. Boy, I was fit to be tied! My husband and I just had the once in a liftime opportunity to go Italy last year – I would cry if I lost those.

I’d have to store the photos of my husband and I in Italy a couple years ago. One of the happiest times of my life!

We have six kids and 3 grandkids who I all love to take pictures of. The ones that I truly need a backup of are the candid ones that catch their personality.

I would be devastated if I lost all the photos of my son! I often worry about losing my pictures, I have a lot of them backed up on Flickr but there are quite a few older pictures that would be lost if I did not have a backup system.

I have just started to do research on this type of devise. If I won your contest I would store all my photos of my wedding, our house rennovation and of course my 13 month old’s pictures. I am planning to burn CDs this weekend, but maybe I’ll wait :)

I would certainly want to back up the photos of my kids — I worry sometimes that if my computer goes down I’d lose everything I have and almost all their photos are digital now!
