Giveaway: Spring Cleaning with Arm & Hammer and Electrolux (6 Winners!)

April 13, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom

The following review is from the Deal Seeking Mom project administrator, Mandi Ehman:

As the weather gets warmer, spring cleaning is on a lot of people’s minds and Arm & Hammer and Electrolux want to help Deal Seeking Mom readers tackle this big project with products that make cleaning easier and our homes healthier.

Arm & Hammer

We’re all familiar with the orange box of Arm & Hammer baking soda which naturally reduces household odors in refrigerators, pantries and trashcans and can be used as a natural cleaning agent, but Arm & Hammer also has a line of cleaning products that use the power of baking soda to help you tackle specific cleaning jobs around your home, including:

  • Arm & Hammer Clean Shower
  • Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Shaker
  • Arm & Hammer Scrub Free Cleanser
  • Arm & Hammer Carpet & Fabric Odor Eliminator
  • Arm & Hammer Essentials Trigger Spray
  • Arm & Hammer Trash Can Deodorizer
  • Arm & Hammer Fabric Softener Sheets

In addition, Arm & Hammer vacuum bags and filters are allergist recommended and offer HEPA filtration, which keeps 99.97% of small particles like dust, pollen and pet dander from being re-introduced into the air. With more than 120 different styles of vacuum accessories, there are Arm & Hammer filters for nearly all brands and models of vacuum cleaners.

Electrolux

Our family has always been a huge fan of Electrolux appliances, and we recently bought our first Electrolux vacuum, the Electrolux ErgoRapido Bagless/Cordless Stick Vacuum, which we love for daily vacuuming to keep up with the crumbs and dirt that our four girls seem to create.

So when Electrolux offered us the opportunity to try the Electrolux Versatility bagless/upright model, we were excited to see if it would live up to the standard set by the stick vacuum. It’s hard for us to find a vacuum that works well on our hand-crafted custom wood floors without scratching them up, but we were hopeful this would do the trick while providing us with more cleaning power than the stick vacuum or our resident Shop Vac.

The box arrived, and my husband immediately unpacked it and began vacuuming, and it really did live up to our expectations. The innovative handle quickly releases a telescoping wand system that reaches up to 14 feet. We’ve rarely used vacuum attachments in the past because of the extra work of hooking them up or switching power to the wand, but this process is automatic in the Versatility, making it easy to quickly dust a high shelf, vacuum hair off the couch or clean up crumbs in the snack drawer.

Additionally, the Versatility vacuum offers:

  • A three-stage cyclonic suction system that separates most of the dirt from the air before it reaches the filter, so the filter stays clean and the vacuum retains maximum cleaning power.
  • A bottom-empty dust cup to make emptying it easy.
  • A HEPA filter that removes 99.97% of small particles from the air while vacuuming and includes charcoal technology to absorb and eliminate odors.
  • Quick and easy switching from hard floor to carpet mode, making it easy to vacuum your entire home.

My spring cleaning consists of windows and closets mainly. We have just tore out our old closet systems and installed new systems so our closets are getting a super cleaning. I also try and go through all my cabinets as well. I am 7 months pregnant so I am going overboard this year due to nesting!

I’m least looking forward to cleaning out our basement – but it needs to be done – the clutter has piled up!! We’re having a yard sale in May so the goal is to get everything sorted through before then!

Have to do – everything!! I’ve gotten so far behind this year that everything has gotten dingy. Kind of depressing, really, but I’ve gotta get it done.

Dreading – the basement and garage. In our three years here I’ve never been able to use my garage for a car! So this year is it! In the basement, I’ve got piles begun – to keep, to give away, to throw away – now I just have to finish and follow through. :) Hoping to bless some clients (I work with low income families) with some household needs.

I need to do some major all around cleaning, but I really hate windows! They need to be done inside and out!!

I hate hate hate (yes I know it’s a strong word!) dusting the baseboards. I don’t know why it bothers me so much when there are potentially ickier tasks (forgotten produce in the back of the refrigerator) but I dread getting down on my hands and knees and dusting all the fur and ick. I love how clean the house feels afterwards though!

The spring cleaning task on my list is the basement. Thus far it is my dh’s domain, but he has done an abysmal job of keeping it neat so I am going to have to “help” him tackle it. That’s also what I dread the most.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
