Giveaway: Spring Cleaning with Arm & Hammer and Electrolux (6 Winners!)

April 13, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom

The following review is from the Deal Seeking Mom project administrator, Mandi Ehman:

As the weather gets warmer, spring cleaning is on a lot of people’s minds and Arm & Hammer and Electrolux want to help Deal Seeking Mom readers tackle this big project with products that make cleaning easier and our homes healthier.

Arm & Hammer

We’re all familiar with the orange box of Arm & Hammer baking soda which naturally reduces household odors in refrigerators, pantries and trashcans and can be used as a natural cleaning agent, but Arm & Hammer also has a line of cleaning products that use the power of baking soda to help you tackle specific cleaning jobs around your home, including:

  • Arm & Hammer Clean Shower
  • Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Shaker
  • Arm & Hammer Scrub Free Cleanser
  • Arm & Hammer Carpet & Fabric Odor Eliminator
  • Arm & Hammer Essentials Trigger Spray
  • Arm & Hammer Trash Can Deodorizer
  • Arm & Hammer Fabric Softener Sheets

In addition, Arm & Hammer vacuum bags and filters are allergist recommended and offer HEPA filtration, which keeps 99.97% of small particles like dust, pollen and pet dander from being re-introduced into the air. With more than 120 different styles of vacuum accessories, there are Arm & Hammer filters for nearly all brands and models of vacuum cleaners.

Electrolux

Our family has always been a huge fan of Electrolux appliances, and we recently bought our first Electrolux vacuum, the Electrolux ErgoRapido Bagless/Cordless Stick Vacuum, which we love for daily vacuuming to keep up with the crumbs and dirt that our four girls seem to create.

So when Electrolux offered us the opportunity to try the Electrolux Versatility bagless/upright model, we were excited to see if it would live up to the standard set by the stick vacuum. It’s hard for us to find a vacuum that works well on our hand-crafted custom wood floors without scratching them up, but we were hopeful this would do the trick while providing us with more cleaning power than the stick vacuum or our resident Shop Vac.

The box arrived, and my husband immediately unpacked it and began vacuuming, and it really did live up to our expectations. The innovative handle quickly releases a telescoping wand system that reaches up to 14 feet. We’ve rarely used vacuum attachments in the past because of the extra work of hooking them up or switching power to the wand, but this process is automatic in the Versatility, making it easy to quickly dust a high shelf, vacuum hair off the couch or clean up crumbs in the snack drawer.

Additionally, the Versatility vacuum offers:

  • A three-stage cyclonic suction system that separates most of the dirt from the air before it reaches the filter, so the filter stays clean and the vacuum retains maximum cleaning power.
  • A bottom-empty dust cup to make emptying it easy.
  • A HEPA filter that removes 99.97% of small particles from the air while vacuuming and includes charcoal technology to absorb and eliminate odors.
  • Quick and easy switching from hard floor to carpet mode, making it easy to vacuum your entire home.

Spring cleaning means everything gets moved and I vacuum every nook and cranny in the house, open all the windows to let the house air out, clean out the garage, clean out the basement (spiders, yuk!), and the oven gets a good scrubbing. Plus we set a couple boxes aside to fill with donations for Veteran’s charities.

I need to go through my son’s closet *scary* and get rid of things because he came downstairs this morning wearing a tiny shirt. Apparently being able to squeeze it on to you means it fits to a 9 year old :P

My most dreaded spring cleaning task is reorganizing our basement to make it more efficient. I will be happier when it’s over but it is a herculean task

Sping cleaning for me means cleaning the windows and baseboards, getting the cob webs and all the other nasties out of the house. Cleaning the oven too!

My spring cleaning will involve complete cleaning from top to bottom. As always my least favorites are the bathrooms and my utility room!! I will be cleaning the cobwebs off the ceiling all the way down to the dust bunnies on the baseboards!! I usually split mine up either do a little each day or pick on day a weekend and assign several tasks to myself and my kids for that day to get done!!

I do my ‘spring cleaning’ at Passover. It involves cleaning everything, under everything, etc. I dread most is cleaning the cabinets: remove all dishes, vacuum cabinets/drawers. Thanks for the contest!

Spring cleaning means a fresh house to start the summer season on. :-) I actually LOVE spring cleaning, but my least favorite job is doing the windows.

I have a huge list going on in my head and have yet to really start. I need to have a garage sale super bad! Go through all the kids clothes and take out what doesn’t fit any more, clean under the stove and fridge, clean out all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and dust those fans! Yuck! Many many more things to spring/summer clean!

I LOVE to clean and organize! I’ve already spring cleaned because I have company visiting this weekend so there is not much else to do. HOWEVER, I detest folding laundry and have an awful hard time getting it folded. My absolute favorite favorite favorite laundry detergent is one of he Arm & Hammer scents. Really, sometimes the only thing that will make me fold clothes is that I can smell each freshly cleaned piece as I do it. And I think I’d rather have the cleaning kit over the vacuum…crazy as that sounds!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
