    My favorite, precious, beautiful 22-month-old baby girl (daughter of a dear friend) loves it when I read to her when we spend time together. I have bought her many, many, many books since she was born and books are her favorite toy to take when she goes into the car with her Mom. So, if she follows the path of my two (now adult) children, she will take a book or two with her everywhere she goes as both of mine still do!

    I personally haven’t done a good job of encouraging them to read but we joined the library summer reading program which offers incentives for reading

    I purchased a few different Minecraft -themed devotionals and my son must read a life lesson each day in order to earn Minecraft screen time.

    I try to find books that my kids will love. The Serafina series was one of the first my daughter really got into…she’s reread the first 2 many times. This summer I’m having them read before they can watch tv.

    We join the summer reading program at our local library and we pick a good chapter book to read together too!

    Encouraging them to read even if it is a comic book. At least we got them reading, can move them on from there.

    We are doing a book and movie quest this summer. When we complete reading a book (to movie) we have a family movie night.

    My kids love to play and chat on their devices. We have a summer rule that no device time until 30 minutes of reading is done.

    I keep my kids motivated by signing them up for a reading program at our local library. I also try to keep them interested by having my girls read stories together and then create mini plays to put on for family when they are done.

    I keep requesting books at the library and just leaving them on her bed. lol I also signed her up for the library’s summer reading program. They have awesome prizes that she’s excited about.
