FREE Breast Cancer Support Guide + Win a Breast Cancer Awareness Prize Package {Includes $50 VISA GC!}

October 7, 2015 by Tara Kuczykowski

Chances are you’re already aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month… The facts are pretty sobering — 250,000+ women in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. In fact, it’s the most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death among Hispanic and Latina women.

I’ve had a number of friends touched by this terrible disease recently, so I’m thrilled to see so many brands partnering with various organizations to fund research. Every little bit helps, right? But I know I always sit up and take notice when a company is doing a little something more than just adding a pink ribbon to their profile for the month or releasing a limited pink version of their gadget.

So when I learned that Allstate Insurance Company is partnering with author Hollye Jacobs to offer FREE copies of The Silver Lining Companion Guide, I was happy to support them in spreading the word. The Silver Lining Companion Guide is a practical and supportive resource to help everyone impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis.

Thanks to the generosity of Allstate, the printed version is offered through select Direct Relief partners and Allstate Insurance Company Agencies, but anyone can access a digital version here. Whether you know someone affected by breast cancer or have been affected personally, I encourage you to download this valuable resource.

    I had my first mammogram at age 40. I got a call 2 days later saying it showed signs of highly having breast cancer. After the tears I had another mammo,an ultrasound & my first visit to the breast center in my state where I had my first of 3 breast biopsies. While I do not at this stage have breast cancer I am considered to be at a high risk for it . I go to the Dr atleast twice a year sometimes more. So thankful that I have found this wonderful place to know that they are watching over me.

    My college roomate and good friend lost her little sister to breast cancer a few years ago. She was only 29 and had given birth to her second child just a few months before her death. She was survived by her husband and two young children.

    I had a breast cancer scare a little over a year ago and found a lump on my breast in the shower. I had the biopsy and even though it was a low chance, it was so scary and made me very emotional. It wound up being a super rare breast disease but now I need to go for regular screenings. I’ve heard many breast cancer stories from friends too and am glad right now I am not one of them.

    A friend and coworker was diagnosed with stage 4 Breast cancer at the age of 35. Being so young with two little boys, it was so unfair. Through these years, she has fought Cancer all the way. Chemo, brain surgeries, hysterectomy, mastectomy, nothing stopped her. With all the pain and discomfort, she still pushes herself to be a voice reminding women to do Breast exams. She also raises money through various Komen activities and has been keynote speaker. She has inspired me to want to help find a cure or at least something to slow down this killer and to cherish each day of my life. I want to win a gift so that I can add it to her fundraising campaign for Team Tiara at the 3-day Koman walk. She is on an experimental drug that has miraculously killed most of her cancer cells. I hope to see her reach retirement. I also hope her fundraisers aid the research so that this medicine will be available for all Breast cancer patients.

    My grandmother passed away due to breast cancer; it took her in 6 mo from the moment she was diagnosed. Her doctor thinks she had it for close to a year. This is a constant reminder to never ignore anything you may notice different about your body, get it checked out!

    Glad for the awareness and participation to eradicate this monster. Think, we shouldn’t ignore the root cause of it and include that in the awareness message.

    My mother in law had a total mastectomy in January and has 1-2 more surgeries pending. She has been through a lot and has had many complications. This package would be a great way to brighten her day.
