Raise your hand if you love The Home Depot!
Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.
Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.
Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.
The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.
Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

My dad inspires me, he raised me as a single father who knew nothing about raising a child and he did a great job of teaching me how to be responsible and a good person, and how to work hard in life. If I won I’d give this to him since he loves Home Depot. Thanks for entering me.

My mother was an incredible inspiration. She raised five children through some tough times, was a divorcee, then a widow. Strong & incredibly smart… she passed away a couple of years ago and is still missed by so many.

My baby’s birthmom inspires me. She loved her baby enough to place him with our family because she knew he would have a better life that way. I couldn’t be a mom without her sacrifice!

My latest inspiration has been a friend of mine and her sacrifices to care for her family. She has selflessly given of herself to help get her father back to good health, while keeping her mother and sister sane!

I’m so inspired by my kids. This week, it’s especially my 2yo daughter, who was adopted at 11 months from a Spanish-speaking country and so her language has been slow to develop. She gets so frustrated not being able to make her needs known, but she keeps trying, and trying, and trying, and it inspires me to never give up.

I am inspired by the troops that are serving our country and who so willingly fight for our freedom as well as for the freedom of others. I witnessed a truly breath taking moment, my brother in law came home from Iraq-at a restaurant a young man dressed in goth casually came up to us and shook his hand and thanked him for his service and for protecting our country. To me it was in that moment that I realized that we are truly blessed.

My 21 year old son inspires me. For years he’s volunteered many hours of his time and worked as an activist in addition to going to college and getting excellent grades. He graduates with honors this May and I couldn’t be prouder of him. He’s inspired me to be more politically and socially active for the first time.
