Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

My husband inspires me! He’s been working so hard to fix up our house and has been doing almost all of it on his own (take a look at his handy work here: http://www.bennyandtomsnewhome.blogspot.com ) His enthusiasm encourages me to put my best foot forward in helping to spruce up our home as well.

Oh and I’ve added your badge and link to my blog roll a long time ago!

I’m inspired by the sun on the snow- it sparkles and glistens and makes me feel rich, in spite of living on little. I’m inspired by how the birds sing when the storms are coming, I’m inspired by the trusting love of little children.

I’m inspired by Scott– the man I love more than any one else, for standing firm when it seems like loss is the only reward.

At the risk of being unoriginal, I too have been constantly inspired by President Obama’s words — most notably the amazing speeches he gave at the Democratic National Convention a few years back and at the Convention last year accepting the nomination. I’m personally touched by his message of tolerance, inclusion, and fellowship, his effort to bring all groups into the fold, and to make everyone who listens to him want to be a better person. I’m excited to see how his words translate into actions now that he’s in office, and so far so good!

Wow, that is actually a pretty deep question. Lots of things inspire me — art, my children, my husband, my family, God, nature, friends, people I don’t even know, etc. But what is the inspiration for my whole life? I am not sure yet. I’m thinking.

I am inspired by my wonderful midwife. She delivered my youngest 3 children at home. She’s a mom of 9 herself, and found out about a year ago she has breast cancer. Through it all, she remained upbeat, and she is a true inspiration to all who know her. We love her very much.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
