Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

To enter leave a comment telling me what inspires you. It can be an event, a person, a speech – you name it.

My inspiration is my friends and family… I am honoured to have an amazing group of people around me with an array of different skills and qualities. The kindness of one, the carpentry abilities of another, the way one can cook and the way the next has a knack for making people open up. I am lucky!

What inspires me is the strength that my sister had during her cancer and how she goes about her life now. She still get tired but she carries on because she has a husband and a 5 yr old that have needs that must be met. She even ran in the Chicago Marathon two yrs after her bone marrow transplant.

I get inspired when I think of any pregnant/recently pregnant woman – what a miracle it is that perfectly healthy babies are born all the time, when you think of all the things that have to happen a certain way. It’s amazing.

My son inspires me. When he was very young he always looked up at me to help and guide him. Now he is in college (and much taller then me) he still looks up (really down) to me to help guide him. How can anyone do wrong when you have a child .. young or old .. looking towards you for help, understanding and to guide him. He inspires me to be the best I can be.

I’d have to say music is my biggest inspiration. When I’m feeling down and don’t want to do anything, I can turn on some music and all of a sudden, housework is enjoyable. :-) My favorite album is Chris Rice’s “Amusing” and this week, my favorite song is The Final Move!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...
