Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

To enter leave a comment telling me what inspires you. It can be an event, a person, a speech – you name it.

I am a wife and a mother to two boys. Life can get pretty busy sometimes and so overwhelming. My mom is my inspiration! She had five kids (I am the second oldest) and she stayed at home and educated all of us all twelve plus years of our education. She and my dad built our house while we all lived in a single wide mobile home. It was a temporary situation that turned into a 15 (I was 8 when we moved into the mobile home and moved from home at 23) year project. I remember days that my mom would get overwhelmed but then be reminded that living in tight corders was just temporary. She remembered a song she heard and that became one of her mottos – I also loved it, it was so true for all of us. “Love grows best in little houses with few walls to separate, where we eat and sleep so close together can’t help but communicate. If we had more room between us think of all we’d miss! Love grows best in little houses just like this!” Today my parents have a beautiful home that is huge, but what makes it a home is definitely not all the space but rather my mom and dads love that is in it! If they can do it with five kids, I can do it with two! My mom is definitely my inspiration!
Thank you so much for entering me!

my grandma inspires me…..i get my strength from her. she’s in her mid eightys and she has lymphoma cancer. she doesn’t cry, moan or complain about it. she takes it one day at a time and goes from there.
she’s strong, a fighter and tough little cookie. she recently got diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has fluid in her lungs. i would do anything for her. i love her to death. i go over every week and take her wherever she needs to go.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
