Raise your hand if you love The Home Depot!
Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.
Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.
Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.
The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.
Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

Added you to my RSS feed. What inspires me are my pets – might sound stupid but – they remind me that simple things in life are all that matter.

My 5 year old son inspires me. He was diagnosed with diabetes last May, but he doesn’t let it slow him down. He’s responsible about what he eats and always asks first if he needs a shot. I was devastated, he took it in stride. So many things could be worse. He’s such a little guy, but is becoming so responsible!

I am inspired by Ralph Nader. He is a true champion of progressive causes. I hope he continues to call the current administration to task on living up to all of the campaign rhetoric and promises.

Martha Stewart. I know that a lot of people don’t like her, but she was the only person that gave me the courage to be creative, and to take enjoyment in the domestic arts. She also reminds me of my grandmother, who I adored.

I’m inspired by biographies and histories of great Christians who lived before me. So many of them experienced trials and struggles that I won’t ever have to live through, and yet they were so much more contented and peaceful than I am. Something to strive for!
