CVS Scenarios Week of 10/5/08

October 4, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 24 Comments

I’ve got some great transactions mapped out for you this week! If you’re a newbie starting out, you can spend just $5.70 out of pocket for about $50 in merchandise (based on sale prices). If you’re returning with your $5 ECBs from last week, you can get the same amount for less than $1 OOP. Not only that, but you’ll end up with $11.99 in ECBs, so newbie or not, you’ll be EARNING money on your purchases!

Are you excited? I know I am!

Transaction #1 (and CVS $5 Challenge Transaction)

BUY Acensia Breeze Glucose Meter at $14.99
BUY Always Infinity Pads (14-18-ct.) at $4.98

USE $30/1 Breeze 2 or Contour Meter $30, exp. 3-31-09 (SS 6/1/08) or $30/1 Breeze 2 or Contour Meter From Bayer, exp. 3-31-09 (SS #2 3/16/08)

Out of Pocket $4.98 (Or toss in an inexpensive filler item to get your subtotal above $5 and use the $5 ECBs earned from last week’s Transaction #3!)
ECBs earned $14.98
Profit $10.00-$14.98 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

Transaction #2

BUY Glaceau vitamin water (32-oz.) at $2.29
BUY (2) Bic Soleil Cartridges or Razor w/cart at $5.99

USE (2) $2/1 Bic Soleil, Soleil Twilight, or Soleil Citron Shaver, exp. 10-26-08 (SS 9/14/08) or $2/1 Bic Soleil or Refills printable

Out of Pocket $10.27 ($0.27 after $10 ECBs from Transaction #1!)
ECBs earned $10.29
Profit $10.02 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

Transaction #3

BUY (2) Colgate Max Fresh Beads Toothpaste at $2.99
BUY (2) Mennen Deodorant at $1.99 (excludes Men’s 24/7)
BUY Gillette Shampoo or Conditioner at $4.99

USE (2) $1/1 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste, exp. 10-18-08 (SS 9/28/08) or $1/1 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste (4-oz. +), exp. 1/31/08 (CVS Beauty Handbook coupons)
USE $0.50/2 Speed Stick or Lady Speed Stick Antiperspirant/Deodorant, exp. 10-18-08 (SS 9/28/08)
USE $2/1 Gillette Shampoo or Conditioner, exp. 10-31-08 (P&G 9/28/08)

Out of Pocket $10.45 ($0.45 after $10 ECBs from Transaction #1!)
ECBs earned $7
Profit $6.55 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Be sure to come back next week, and I’ll show you how to roll over the $11.98 in ECBs you still have on hand ($4.99 from Transaction #1 + $7 from Transaction #3) to get the most for you money!

Great post, especially for newbies who may not have ECBs or very many coupons.

(P.S. Found you on moneysavingmom’s CVS blog round up!)

Any idea what the limit on the Always Infinity is?
5 is the limit on the Soleil, eh?
On the Colgate I thought I had done 2 transactions and that 2 was the limit, but it does not say “* offer limit reached” for the Colgate… any idea how the system works on this?
Wondering about the Warm Delights max limit and the above… and then Eucerin is also 5… does that mean 12ECBs X 5?
Sorry for all the questions… and maybe you do not have time to answer, but if you do I would be super appreciative!

Sorry, Kathi! I’m guessing that like-minded CVSers maxed out the print limit.

Thanks, Bargain Babe! I hope you’ll stop back.

April, if you go back to the CVS Weekly Deals post, I list all of the limits in parentheses, and you’re correct on all the ones you mentioned above. The Always actually says one in the flyer, but people are reporting that they’ve been able to purchase two and get the ECBs. I’m not sure on the Colgate. Sometimes the receipts don’t update immediately, or it’s possible that the limit is higher than the ad states. And you’re absolutely right about the Eucerin. Hope that helps!

April, you can find tons of cute icons on iconspedia!

Nicole, I haven’t heard of any new $/$$ coupons. Often people report that they print with their ECBs, but I never seem to be that lucky. As far as the cold medicine, the best deal is to purchase 2 Viactiv Flavor Glides and the K-Y Liquibeads. Use the $2/1 Viactiv and the $5 K-Y printable for $5 OOP after ECBs.

    More transaction ideas.

This is assuming you have $0 in EBC’s. If you already have ECB’s use for transaction 1.

    Transaction 1:
::BUY Colgate Max Fresh Beads or Scented Toothbrush at $2.99, GET $2 ECBs (limit 2)::
$1/1 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste, exp. 10-18-08 (SS 9/28/08)
$1/1 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste (4-oz. +), exp. 1/31/08 (CVS Beauty Handbook coupons)
    FREE after coupon and ECBs!

::BUY Always Infinity Pads (14-18-ct.) at $4.98, GET $4.98 ECBs (limit 2)::
    FREE after ECBs!

    Transaction 2:
::BUY Bic Soleil Cartridges or Razor w/cart at $5.99, GET $4 ECBs (limit 5)::
$2/1 Bic Soleil, Soleil Twilight, or Soleil Citron Shaver, exp. 10-26-08 (SS 9/14/08)
$2/1 Bic Soleil or Refills printable
    FREE after coupon and ECBs!
Buy 2 and use 2 coupons. (You can buy up to 5 actually, but I’m listing two as most of you probably have 2 coupons. The best deal would be to buy 3 and use 3 coupons.)

::BUY something else for $1.00 so you can use all your EBC’s::
Suggestions: Aquafresh, Colgate or Ultrabrite $.99, or Fun Size 8pk of Snickers, M&M’s, Twix, MilkyWay, 3Musteteers or Skittles $.99, or Candy Corn 10oz bag $.99, or Funlight necklace, glasses or lightsick $.99

Use the $8.98 in ECB’s from transaction 1 to pay for this transaction.

    Transaction 3:
::BUY $20 Maalox at $5.49, GET $10 ECBs (limit 1)::
    $2/1 Maalox Chewable, exp. 11-30-08 (SS 8/17/08)
    $2/1 Maalox Liquid, exp. 11-30-08 (SS 8/17/08)
4/$3.96 after 4 coupons and ECBs!

Use $8.00 in ECB’s from transaction 2 to pay for this transaction. (Or use $12.00 in EBC’s if you bought 3 razors)

You will have $10 in ECB’s for next week.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
