Wait. We’re getting NEW ExtraCare cards? I’ve had the same card for years and years. I haven’t heard about this. Care to elaborate?

If you are in NV or CA, looks like there are no ECB deals for a month or so while the Longs conversion is going on. Very disappointed. :(

OK, I googled this and apparently the people getting the new cards are ones that have had theirs for 5+ years.
I had one card from way, way back but never used it. I lost it, in fact. So when I began doing the Extra Care program I went and got a new card. That was only 2.5 years ago. I wonder what they’ll do in a case like that? Surely they won’t issue me a new card based on the longevity of the previous card I had and lost?

Hmm, thanks for the info, Kristie! I didn’t think I’d had my card for that long, but I suppose it’s possible. It could be that they’re starting with the older ones first. If you haven’t used your other card for a long time, they probably won’t issue you a new one.

The funny thing is I was actually considering signing up for a new card because I never get the coupons by email with my current card anymore. I occasionally get something by snail mail, but they’re not usually very good.

Just got back from CVS. The new deals for the week were on and the Aveeno buy $25, get $10 from 2 weeks ago was back. There were tags beneath ALL the Aveeno items I saw — not just the hair care as is listed in the flyer. AND — my CVS got a new shipment of Positively Ageless Sunscreen with bonus chapsticks attached.

Als0 for the Colgate deal — there were packages with a free toothbrush attached.

If you are a Vocalpoint member you got Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats coupons. There was one BOGO and the rest were $1/1. You can use these on the Kellogg’s cereal deal to get some pretty cheap cereal.

I’m brand new to CVS. Read the how to. I’m familiar with Walgreens & Rite Aid. CVS seems a little more complicated but maybe similar to Walgreens as far as RR go. Anyway, I’m a little confused about the Kellogg’s deal. My ad says “1.88 each” and I’ve got three $1 coupons. So I was going to pay $0.88 each. My ad doesn’t mention the $5 ECB when you spend $10. Do you think it is a regional thing (cal) or does your ad say $1.88 each also? Is that in a separate ad?

Hi Robin! That tells you which Sunday insert the coupon was in and the date it was in the paper. You can find a list of abbreviations here.

Very odd thing happened this morning. I got 3 MiniWheats & tried to use two $1Q & a BOGO Q (all from the Vocal Point thing), and was told I couldn’t use the BOGO. THEN the worst part. I handed two separate ECB’s to the cashier to pay. They were small amounts, and didn’t cover the whole amount anyway since I bought more than just cereal. He told me that I can only use 1 ECB per transaction. He said he ‘could’ scan in as many as I handed him, but that it was policy to only use one at a time. He went on to say that the night guy (who I usually see & wasn’t there this morning) got fired for doing this kind of transaction. Being that it’s Sunday, I can’t talk to the CVS customer service line today, but it changes how I will need to plan if I can only use 1 ECB at a time. Do you know anything about this??

I WANT TO MAKE A NOTE TO ALL NEWBEE’S FOR I AM MYSELF AND AM STILL LEARNING.
I DIDN’T KNOW (THOUGH IT SAYS IT RIGHT ON THE EBC’S IN SMALL PRINT) THAT IF YOU HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF COUPONS FOR THE SAME NUMBER OF ITEMS YOUR PURCHASING YOU CAN NOT USE THE EBC’S. FOR EX: I WENT TO PURCHASE THE SHOE INSOLES AND SCHICK RAZOR. FOR THE INSOLES I USED A COUPON FROM MY SUNDAY INSERT FOR $10 OFF AND FOR THE RAZOR I USED A $4 COUPON ALSO FROM SAME SUNDAY INSERT. THAT LEFT MY BALANCE AT $6.32 BALANCE. I TRIED TO USE A $2 EBC AND IT WOULDN’T WORK. THE CASHIER SAID YOU CAN ONLY USE AS MANY COUPONS AS YOU HAVE ITEMS. I WAS UNDER AN INCORRECT ASSUMTION THAT THE EBC’S WERE LIKE CASH. THEY ARE CONSIDERED COUPONS.

My understanding is that the ECB’s are coupons but they can accept them even when you have coupons for every item…my CVS accepts competitor coupons and today I had 5 coupons for 3 items PLUS I paid partially with ECB. they just scanned the floor mgr’s card. So ask to check with a mgr, it might be that particular store has implemented that policy and you may want to shop a different store if there is one nearby.

I have never had any trouble using coupons and ECB’s together. Yesterday the cashier at my store even let me use an expired coupon for $10 off of $50, along with ECB and coupons. Love my CVS!

It’s been my experience with CVS especially recently it all depends on the store. I did the Tresemme deal and bought Bayer crystals. I had 4 coupons, and then 4 EBCs from the week prior. My normal store was out of Tresemme products. The cashier called up the manager and who was very nasty to me about having the coupons. I got fed up and left then did the transaction when I visited my parents in Detroit later on in the week without any problems. Ive also had one CVS tell me I could not to multiply transactions even though I was the only customer while my normal store will suggest transactions that might help being seperate…..

    Dizzy,

If you call CVS’ number, 1-800-746-7287, and report the manager, he will be spoken to. I complained about an extremely rude employee, and it was obvious he was spoken with as he was sweet as candy last night when I went in.

I too am new at this CVS deal but I thought I’d give it a try which I did. I went last week Saturday and purchased several items. My 1st transaction was the command 2 for $5, and ad stated that if you purchased $15 worth you get $ ECB. So, I purchased 6 at $5 ea would be $15, right? Then I used several coupons and only pd $4.31 OOP but didn’t get the 5 ecb. I asked the cashier why I didn’t get the ecb and he said I would only get it if I actually paid $15 OOP…no big deal I thought since only pd $4. My 2nd transaction was the aveeno ageless, purchased 3 at $9 each used the $10 coupon and only pd $17 OOP and got $10 ECB. Then I wondered, but I didn’t pay $30 (ad stated if purchase 30, get $10 ecb) but still got the $10 ecb. how’d that happen? I’m totally confused!

FrAnCe, you are supposed to get the ecb no matter if the OOP is less than stated or not. I get them all the time. I rarely spend more than a $1.00 at the register and come away with all my intended ecbs. If it happens again, just politely say, well that changes the price of the item, so I don’t think I want it if you cannot give me what the ad states and have him refund it and give you your coupons back if necessary. The cashier can print them for you when they do not print. Then just go to another CVS or another register at that CVS and do it. The only reason you would not get the ecb is if you have already taken advantage of that offer on your card.

I never can remember…for a deal that is spend ‘X amount’ and get X ECBs, is the ‘X amount’ before or after coupons?

Angie, thanks for the tip. That was my 1st time using the card as I never really paid any attention before. So, maybe because I started out with zero ECB that I didn’t get the 5 ecb from the 1st transaction? Oh well. Next time, I know what to do and say ;o) Thanks again…

Katy – the X amount is BEFORE coupons…and FrAnCe you definitely should have gotten the ECB-I bought 6 of the command hooks, used 6 coupons for 2.50 each, paid 1.20 OOP(tax) and got the$5ECB. Your cashier may have rung the order incorrectly-look at the bottom of the receipt and it will show you what you have spent toward the deal and how much more you need to spend to get the deal…

Hello misti. I looked at my receipt and says that I earned $7.50 toward this reward and needed another $7.50 to earn reward. What is that mean? That I have to purchase more scotch 3m product? Also, it states AMP/Frappuchino, buy 2 get 1 eb; quantity toward this reward 1, quantity needed to earn reward 1. But I didn’t buy any AMP/Frap…???
