Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

I get plenty of rest, lots of orange juice, and hot lemon and honey tea then I rub my chest down with Vicks at night and stay under the covers. My mother used to give us caster oil every weekend when we were youngsters. Nasty stuff, but works to keeps colds and flu away.

I make a pot of homemade chicken soup and rub Vicks Vaporub on our chests, before we go to bed at night. The vicks really does help. My mother use to use it on me when I was a child, too, and I always felt better in the morning. Thanks for having the contest!

Please enter me in this wonderful gaveaway. I use this now because our family has alergies and Vicks works great, especially at night. It helps everyone sleep peacefully without coughing all night. Thank you.

My dad was a great caregiver when I would get ill as a child, and he always believed in Vicks VapoRub for colds and flu. He would rub it on our chests and backs, and on our feet and hands, and cover our feet with his work socks. He’d also warm Dr. Pepper on the stove and serve it in a mug with lemon slices, and it did help relieve a sore throat and clogged bronchial airways. I have followed his lead in caring for my own children. Whatever the remedy, the love and the compassion that is used to serve it up is most important.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
