Approximately 72,000 pounds of Bumble Bee canned chicken salad products have been recalled because they may contain foreign objects.  For a complete description and list of lot codes and best-by dates, go here.  The chicken salad products were assembled between August 14 and August 28, 2010, and shipped to distributors and retail stores nationwide.

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Forever-Glo Cylinder Nite Lites

American Tack & Hardware Co., Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of Forever-Glo Cylinder Nite Lites because an electrical short circuit in the night light can cause it to overheat and smolder or melt which can burn consumers or result in a fire.  The recalled Forever-Glo Nite Lite is cylinder shaped with a white base and clear top that plugs into the wall.  Only model number 71107 with a manufacturer code of SY is included in this recall.  The number and code are printed on the back of the night light.  The affected items were sold in hardware stores, lighting showrooms and home centers nationwide from May 2009 through September 2010 for about $5.

Consumers should remove the lights from the wall socket and contact AmerTac for instructions on receiving a full refund.  AmerTac can be contacted by phone 800-420-7511 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or by visiting their website.

American Red Cross Cabinet Swing Locks

The First Years American Red Cross Cabinet Swing Locks with item number Y7181 have been voluntarily recalled because the installed latches can break and children could gain access to contents of a cabinet, posing the risk of exposure to hazardous items.  The recalled locks were sold at Toys R Us, Babies R Us and other retail stores nationwide and on the internet from September 2008 through September 2010 for about $4 /pair.

Consumers should immediately remove the latches from cabinets, record the date code on the back of each latch and contact The First Years to obtain a $5 coupon toward the purchase of another Learning Curve product.  You can contact The First Years by phone at 866-725-4407 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit their website.

Lowe’s has added its name to the retailers joining the voluntary recall announced in December 2009 of ALL Roman Shades and Roll-Up Blinds.  Strangulations can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the roman shades, or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck.  Strangulations can also occur if the lifting loop on the Roll-Up Blinds slides off the side of the blind and a child’s neck becomes entangled in the free-standing loop, or if a child places his/her neck between the lifting loop and the roll-up blind material.  The recalled blinds and shades were sold at Lowe’s and other retail stores since at least 1999 through June 2010, for between $10 and $1800.

Frontier Natural Products Co-op is voluntarily recalling two products manufactured with non-organic nutmeg that were sold under the Frontier brand and under the Whole Foods Market brand.  The recalled nutmeg has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.  The affected products were sold in all 50 states and in some parts of Canada to distributors, retailers and consumers.  Go here for the complete list of recalled products.
