I’ve been drooling over some amazing action camera videos I’ve been seeing on Instagram recently, and I often think how fun it would be to try capturing my family with one of these camcorders. I’ve had my eye on a couple of high-end models for some time now, but I haven’t taken the plunge because I just really wasn’t sure if I’d use it often enough to justify the price tag.

I’m so glad that I hesitated, because Vivitar just released a new action camera (just in time for the holidays!!!) that is ultra affordable and comes with a ton of extras. The Vivitar DVR786 is priced at a low $59.99, making it a fantastic option for on-the-go teens, adventurers, and families alike.

The Vivitar DVR786 is a full HD action camcorder that records in 1080p quality. It features 12.1 megapixels and 4x digital zoom — but the extras are what really take it to the next level. Packaged along with the camera, you’ll receive a waterproof case (it’s submersible up to 30 feet!), both a bicycle and helmet mount, and a remote control. You’re really getting a ton of features for your money!

We’ve been very pleased with this action camera so far! I actually haven’t gotten to use it much myself, because my kids are always using it. I’d say it’s very durable — it’s stood up to their abuse with no issues. And it’s also very user friendly — they’re had no trouble downloading the video off of the camera. A full battery charge lasts about 30 minutes, which could be a little better, but overall for the price, the Vivitar DVR786 is a great way to see if an action camera is right for you without spending a ton of money.

Chances are you’re already aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month… The facts are pretty sobering — 250,000+ women in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. In fact, it’s the most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death among Hispanic and Latina women.
