So who wants to add $500 to their holiday budget? You didn’t really think I was going to make this EASY for you, did you? You’re going to have to work a little bit for a prize this big.
In light of the tough economic times, this contest is all about discovering new ways to help each other save money. Yesterday I wrote a post detailing seven easy ways to cut at least $1 from your budget per day in the hopes that it would inspire you to participate in The One Dollar Give. I only just scratched the surface though, and I know that you all have some amazing tips to share as well.
So there you go – holiday-themed or not, I want you to share your best methods for cutting back by at least $1 a day!

I use half the requested amount of soap and fabric softener when doing wash. I divide each of my Windex and Kitchen cleaners with adding extra water into two bottles halving it. It works just fine and doesn’t affect the cleaning.

My tip is to strategically plan your errands around each other. If you run all your errands in 1 or 2 days a week instead of going out every day then you will save more than $1 a day in gas. I have been doing this and it has really helped, especially when gas was so expensive.

Last year I bought them a bunch of winter clothes for really cheap and saved so much money. It is tempting to buy them all the new cute clothes that are out but it is so worth it to wait for the big end of the season sales and stock up for the next year!
