Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Leave a comment with your favorite simple tip for living a greener life. Going green doesn’t have to be hard, so let’s help each other out by sharing the little changes we can make that can add up to a larger impact over time.

I’ve been using a lot less towel papers and using kitchen towels for drying hands / dishes. I also use a lunchbox to carry lunch to work. Everytime I go to the market, I buy a reusable tote to help reduce the amt of plastic bags used.

My green tip: Use everything you buy: food, paper products, clothing. And try buying used instead of new. Every piece of furniture in my living room is from Craigslist. I love them all, and I cry less when my children get them dirty.

I use a SIGG aluminum bottle for me and my kids (no juice boxes for school – healthier and greener!) as well as bring reusable bags to grocery stores, department stores and just about any other store that would use plastic to hold my stuff!

Now that the weather is warmer, I dry my cloth diapers out on the line rather than tossing them in the dryer!

My family tries to live a greener life by recycling, using reusable shopping bags, buying energy star appliances, using compact fluorescents, using green household cleaners, filtered water etc. It’s not much, but we are doing what we can! :)

I guess the simplest thing is to make smal changes every day – get greener one step at a time. Maybe today you get a stainless steel bottle and ditch the bottled water. Tomorrow you bring your own bags to the grocery store. Then replace your bulbs when they burn out with environmentally friendly ones. See – it is easy being green!

The easiest green tip that you can do is use cloth bags when you go shopping. I have been doing this for years now and really, it’s so easy!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
