Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

Leave a comment with your favorite simple tip for living a greener life. Going green doesn’t have to be hard, so let’s help each other out by sharing the little changes we can make that can add up to a larger impact over time.

My favorite tip is to compost and grow your own garden. Even if it’s just herbs, that’s a great start. We recently planted lots of veggies for summer and will be planting watermelon soon.

I recently learned that I was mistaken in thinking that I was saving water by hand-washing dishes. It’s actually much greener to use your dishwasher!

My green tip is to use reusable things as much as possible– watter bottles, coffee travel bugs, cloth grocery bags. I like using cloth napkins and handkerchiefs– they feel nicer, seem fancy, and are green to boot!

Not only do we use cloth napkins at home, but we take them with us when we eat out (and go to my mom’s house!). The kids don’t even know what paper napkins are!

Hi! My fave way of “going green” is to make crocheted shopping bags. It keeps my hands busy at the endless ballet, baseball, choir practices etc of my kids and they are 100% sturdier than the silly plastic bags!

Among the many “green” things I do one of the biggest to me is cloth diapering.

Our family just stopped using water bottles, I thought that the water was better than tap water… but I found out it is usually just expensive tap water! As much water as we go thru, I feel we made a huge difference already! thanks for the giveaway!

Ways that I’m able to go greener is by taking a shorter shower and using recyclable grocery bags.

    April 28, 2009 at 9:22 pm

I used vinegar to clean my bathroom sinks yesterday, and I was suprised at how well, it ‘erased’ the lime and leftover toothpaste quickly.
Please enter my name in this giveaway!
    Thanks!

We recycle lots of ways – recently we started our own compost pile and make sure to put everything from egg shells and coffe grounds to shredded paper!
Can’t wait to try out the new GREEN stuff!
    Thanks!

I bring my own bags to the grocery store, use fluorescent bulbs and recycle everything I possibly can. None of them take a lot of effort but I feel like I’m making a difference!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
